Do you guys do uneven overclocks? Is it a good practice for gaming

Do you guys do uneven overclocks? Is it a good practice for gaming purposes? I've realized that most games task the first two cores with majority of the fast work load and this creates things like Pentium G3258 able to keep up with AMD's cheap quadcore. Ofcourse there are games that utilize more threads, but even those seems to still generally use the first two core more often than the secondaries.

My theory is, if I overclock the first two core higher and the other two bit lower, I would effectively be gaining more performance.

I tried searching google for this type of thing and any information on this type of practice but I don't see any (or maybe I haven't searched hard enough).

Does anyone else know more about this?

The CPU's core(s) are based on specific frequencies to match the memory's and front side bus speed. unevenly overclocking may yield poorer performance regardless

It easily overclocks to 4.5

I am not sure I could give you all the reasons, but the big thing is that is nice for cores to be synchronized due keep l3 cache access in sync without some elaborate locking involved since it is still shared. The newest 8 core ARM cpus seem to have different stock clocks though. I am not sure how that works.

Yeah, Android arm cpus are doing something similar. 2 big core, x small core.

I'm wondering about the general benefits on desktop. Its should be noted that on the overclock bench records, its mostly 2/1 core overclocks. Disabling other cores allows for higher single/dual core overclocks.
