Greetings /g/. I'm looking to buy my wife a tablet for Christmas and wanted to keep it under 200. Naturally, as a woman, she isn't going to use it for anything particularly strenuous, her main interest is using it to watch videos. What would you guys suggest that I get her?
Anybody?
Get her a amazon kindle fire, the only problem with them is that they don't have any google apps like youtube.

Smaller: nexus 7 or shield tablet, nexus 7 will be fine but its old. Bigger: nexus 9 on sale for 200, that's about it under 200

Honestly, you might as well not get anything cause at 200 dollars, there isn't anything that is worth it or even going to last you long enough or you can buy it used from craig's list or something of that sort.
The revised Nvidia shield tablet is what I recommend; it is fast, has a nice screen, and has a microsd card slot, which is handy for shoving a bunch of movies onto; 128 GB cards are only $40 or so if you look around.

The Galaxy Tab A is a poor choice for videos - it uses a 4:3 ratio screen, so you get large black bars when watching any recent video. And those black bars are cutting into its meager supply of pixels, only 1024x768. You want something with 16:10 screen, which gets you much smaller black bars on most videos. The Nvidia Shield is down to $200, and has a nice 1920x1200 screen, as well as more RAM & a much faster SoC than the Galaxy Tab A.

Just get her a used iPad Mini 2 from Cowboom for $180 or so.
The Mini 1 has a dated SoC, the Mini 3 is way more expensive and almost identical.
We've decided on the Fire HD10, anything particularly wrong with that? She was looking at a Nexus 7, but the lack of expandable storage was a dealbreaker.
why don't you buy her a projector so you can watch videos together?
then when she wants alone time she can just take it into the bedroom or the garden.
