>2012 + 2 x 1
>Not using the most modern OS in the field

Looks like you pretend to be a like the ignorant japanese/ korean refusing to be modern.
>>
>you pretend to be a like the

you pretend to be a like the speaker english
>>
it's not 2014
>>
>>51598847
you are the one who lives in the past.
also bait. 9/10 tough, made me reply but the anger is missing.
>>
>>51598847
nonsense: the post
>>
>>51598903
It's obviously a shame that we are still using OS based on the old UNIX or NT, though.
>>
>>51598847
No c++ compiler anon

>>51598847
modern? when was the last time it was updated? 10 years ago?

I use Sam, the superior editor.

I use acme, the superior INTEGRATING development enviornment

Quick /p9/ tell me how the fuck do I change Inferno's font.
Goddamn I really need my 8x13 or any of its derivatives.
>>
>>51602022
edit the source code or get their beautiful lucida fonts from the zip in vita nuova's website. it will overide the ugly font that comes with their repo.

if you don't like lucida then get fucked.

Try setting the "font" environment variable in the startup script before you start the wm. I have no idea whether this works for all of Inferno, but acme and acme-sac do pay attention to it.
>>
>>51602115
acme is still one of my favorite editors to this day
(emacs is great as well)

I'm glad the 9front guys are still kicking too. the art of conversation was a great release
>>
not even people who developed plan9 use it, at most they use plan 9 from user space on OSX or a BSD
>>
>>51598903
>rough clones of a 70s operating system, plus a layer of extraordinarily bloated and poorly designed Red Hat crapware, all stitched together with HTTP
Stuck in the past.

>>51599097
The original sepples compiler was written on Plan 9 mate. The lack of a "modern" C++14 can be seen as a blessing given that all C++03-and-up programs are monstrous, without exception.

>>51599316
What breakthroughs have happened in the past 10 years? Why does your OS still have Berkeley sockets and provide no private namespaces? Why do your OS provide no universal network-agnostic authentication, certification and encryption? Why do your OS have no unified hierarchy of devices and network, and no IPC/RPC protocol that is dead simple to use? Why is your OS trying to use containerization to get around deficiencies?

>>51602254
Because they work in the real world where interaction is a fact. What else would they do, barricade themselves in at Google for 3 years writing a modern web browser for Plan 9 just so they can actually use Google's issue tracker?
>>
>>51602065

Where and what do I edit? am more or less completely lost.

>>51602115
I did edit the one inside /env/ but launching another wm seems to have the same font.
>>
>>51602300
>why do your OS
I have no idea how I managed this twice.
>>
>>51598847
2012 +2*1 is 2014
>>
>>51602307
Try setting and exporting it straight in a terminal window and then running wm/wm in that same window. You can run the WM recursively, after all.
>>
>>51602356

Nope no luck, guess I still have to get used to it.
IIRC variables were per process in p9 and Inferno right?
>>
>>51598847
Order of operations fgt

2 * 1 = 2

2012 + 2 = 2014

Bit the bait...
>>
>>51602882
even if it was (2012 + 2) * 1 it would still be 2014 mate

Joke here is that it doesn't matter anyway since plan 9 turds still think it's 2001. Linux won, get over it.

>>51602952
>people in the counterculture praising GNU and the Linux kernel over plan9/9front
GNU/Linux didn't even have anything to do with it. UNIX won out over plan9, at the discretion of the lazyness of computer scientists the world over.
oh what a time we live in

>Not using the most modern OS in the field

Most advanced, sure, but modern? Come on, now.
>>
>>51598981
NT is pretty damn advanced, even by modern standards - a lot of the staple features of NT never actually got used in desktop computers (namely the ability to swap out userspaces without altering the kernel).
>>
>>51602996
UNIX beat plan9 for the same reason that C++ beat Go.
It was just there first.
>>
>>51603179

you know nothing. rio is infinitely ahead of anything that xorg has aborted since it came into being
fuck the framebuffer. all operating systems should have required a mouse 15 years ago.

It's a damn shame, then, that rio looks so much like ass.
