AMD Shill why are you trying to start another Nvidia vs AMD dick measuring contest?
>>
I don't know if it's the beat bag for the buck, but yes it is a great card for the money
>>
Short answer: yes

Long answer: At any price point, AMD will outperform nvidia. The only case where nvidia beats AMD is the 980ti for pushing stupid high fps (120fps) at 1080p, but even then at higher resolutions AMD still wins.

200$ is an approachable price point. not too high. not too low.
>>
No, all AMD GPUs are horrible engineering failures that require twice as much power to get the same performance as Nvidia cards.

Also consider waiting 7-8 months to get a 14-16nm GPU that will easily be twice as fast as a 380 for the same price.
>>
Yes, OP, IMO buying AMD is the easily way to avoid the nvidia logo tax.

>buying AMD

That's not really where im getting at. I'm a budget gamer (jew) and at first I thought buying something at the 150$ price point and the GTX950 is dominating at that mark. But maybe for a 50$ more I can get something with more longevity. It's a reworked chip so it's not that hot now.
>>
Also I didn't mention this, the reason I'm going over my jew budget is that my 7790 fried and they couldn't replace it since 7790s are out of the market, so I got my money back.

Where do you live? On newegg the r9 380 is the same price as the gtx950 after rebate... The 380 is a much better card. The next AMD card down is the 370, slightly worse than the 950, but it only cost $99. Frankly right now I wouldn't even consider nvidia at any price point, except in some countries with wacky pricing. The AMD cards are more future proof as well.

The 290 is $200 right now, if you're willing to put up with the stock cooler anyway.

lol, nope. Never fucking again.
>>
>>51593993
you need to change cooler on it
(ie. rajintek morpheus)
>>
>>51594434
>>51594745

You don't NEED to. The stock 290 cooler, functionally, is completely adequate just loud.
>>
What about 150€?

I'm grabbing an R9 380 tomorrow for that price (if it's not some sort of scam).

Is there anything right now that card can't handle at medium settings, 1080p? I'm going to pair it with an i5 4460.
>>
>>51594910
I like AMD, but there is no defending the 290 stock cooler.

It's not just "loud," it's deafening.
>>
Upgrading to 980. Is there any noticeable difference between FTW, SC and SSC other than the way the heat is dispersed? I have H100i cooling
>>
>>51591704
On newegg the 380 is $169, buy this op. At that price its a steal.
>>
Yes and no. It is at that price point, but It'd be retarded to not spend the extra 20-30 dollars on the 380x which reaches 970 rivaling levels.
>>
Can anyone explain to me what a reference card is?
>>
>>51595728

380x is like $70 more than 380...

im not sure these crumbs are worth 70 bucks more
>>
>>51596405
it's a card by the original manufacturer, usually with a single fan blower style cooler

they are absolute shit, avoid at all costs
>>
>>51597024
you are not looking at a 380x, though; this is the actual difference (in reference, but the difference should be like this on various non-reference cards)
