So I bought a 970 during the sales. I have ordered from Newegg before, and my packages are usually delivered by UPS.

The problem is that I live in a kind of shitty area. There are a lot of ghetto blacks here. Newegg says they only require a signature on items $500 or more, so my card doesn't qualify. I work during the main hours of delivery, so this is a problem. I do not want my $300 card just sitting there all day for Jerome to steal.

What can I do? It hasn't actually shipped with UPS yet because it's the weekend. Should I call Newegg tomorrow, or wait to call UPS on Monday and see if I can get the package to require a signature?
>>
>>51585977
I had this same dilemma. Luckily I have a back door so I changed the instructions to walk around the back of my apartment and leave it in the back. I also set up a webcam in my window pointed at it so I could see when it was delivered and watch it until I got off work.
>>
>>51585977

I'd just pay for a shipping method that requires signature confirmation.

Also, get a PO box, that way it's more secure, and you can pick up.
>>
>>51585977

Odds are it'll require a signature without you asking for it.

Also, I know FedEx has the option of letting you hold the package at a FedEx store for free. You can request it right from the tracking page.

Not sure if UPS has the same feature, but I don't see why they wouldn't offer it.
>>
>>51586027
>I'd just pay for a shipping method that requires signature confirmation.
I think it's too late to change the shipping with Newegg. It says "Shipped" on order status, but obviously it hasn't actually been shipped because I ordered it on Friday.
>>
>>51585977
What do you do for work? If you're in one building all day, then just have it shipped there.

If you work doesn't allow that, quit. That's a shitty place of employment.
>>
Move to a town with less niggers. Or have it delivered to a PO box.
>>
>>51586039
send them an email
>>
>>51585977
have sent to a pick up location. They're open late. That's what I do.

Warehouse for Victoria's Secret.

It's shitty but it pays well and I can't do much else right now while I wait to get back into uni.

Ooohh man, I want the story behind OP's pic.

Did he get his goddamn fat face punched in? Was he raped like the bitch he is? Was he fucking murdered for the thieving little shit he is?

....Was he murdered THEN raped? Please say yes.

UPS didn't even ring the doorbell or knock when they delivered my last laptop (it cost me $1300)
good luck OP they won't do shit for you

You should've gotten it from Amazon. They are really good with this kind of thing.
>>
>>51586016
>implying the delivery guy is going to do that
they have hundreds of deliveries to make every day. if the front door is closer, they're going to do that and then write that the path to the back door was either locked or not visible.
>webcam ... I can watch it until I get off work
what will that accomplish? I mean really, if someone walks up and takes it 5 minutes after the courier drops it off, are you in a position to go chase after them or something? Or call a neighbor and have them run out and stop the theft from happening?

Security webcams are useful if you're worried about an intruder because the cops will hustle over if your home is being invaded. Otherwise it's just a front row seat to someone committing a crime (and not much else, unless they turn to face the webcam or otherwise identify themselves).

If you're worried about shipment, send it to a PO box or some trusted place (like your work) and just pick it up there.
>>
>>51586088
>have sent to a pick up location. They're open late. That's what I do.
So I call UPS on Monday, or what?
>>
>>51586143

Yeah first thing in the morning, just give them your code.
>>
>>51586126
Amazon uses various couriers. In my area they often use OnTrac, who are unbelievably bad with deliveries. They don't even bother to try to get into the building - they just report back the the "business" is closed.
>>
>>51586111
I know, isn't that some shit? I was waiting for the fucker (UPS), and I knew he wouldn't knock. That fucking shitfaced little faggot THREW it on my porch (GTX 980Ti) from about 5 feet away.

I tore out my door spewing every fucking hateful word and slur I knew. Shithead started running his mouth back, saying "GOOD LUCK PROVING IT" and actually rushed me. We fought.

I'd love to say I beat his ass but we both were fucked up in the end and I was the cunt to go to jail, so net loss for me. Fucking bullshit.
>>
In the not-so-unlikely event that I call UPS, get them to require a signature or deliver to one of the pickup locations, but they still deliver it to my door and it is stolen by niggers, what do you think my chances of getting another card shipped are? Is Newegg good about that sort of thing, or will they just shit on me because "UPS says they delivered it to your doorstep."
>>
Why don't you send it to your job?

That's what i do.

No, once it's in UPS's hands, it's not their responsibility anymore, nor should it be their responsibility.

UPS just doesn't give a damn, they'll straight up say it's your fucking fault.
>>
>>51586179
>That fucking shitfaced little faggot THREW it on my porch (GTX 980Ti) from about 5 feet away.
I have a feeling he tossed the package on your doorstep, not threw it at the ground. Your card was likely fine, and went through worse in the warehouse when it was being unloaded and packaged in the first place.
>>
>>51586224
>No, once it's in UPS's hands, it's not their responsibility anymore, nor should it be their responsibility.
>
>UPS just doesn't give a damn, they'll straight up say it's your fucking fault.
I have heard stories of both cases happening. Sometimes Newegg refunds you and gives you a giftcard or something, and sometimes they say "Sorry, UPS said they delivered it. Deal with them."

UPS is obviously not going to do anything if it comes down to that.

Do I just call my bank and request a chargeback, in that case?
>>
>mfw fedex, ups, usps, ontrac have always been courteous and always set my packages down on my porch
>mfw i've noticed expensive things left overnight on my porch and they never get stolen

feels good not living in a shit neighborhood with worthless shitstains for neighbors.
>>
>>51586237
this. so many sheep consumers seem to think that their new purchases were so carefully handled leading up to the UPS guy delivering it. The truth is these things get knocked around and treated like cargo - because that's pretty much all they are.

As for concerns about non-delivery and whatnot, just threaten/offer to contest the charge if you're not satisfied. Most credit cards offer good terms for contesting charges.
>>
>>51586290
>Most credit cards offer good terms for contesting charges.
I didn't buy it with a credit card... I bought it with a debit card. I don't own credit cards.

>>

You don't know what you're talking about, though. Debit Cards through banks are usually VISAs, which are eligible for chargebacks.
>>

This. My mailman has even gone back to my house to retry deliver if I wasn't home to sign.
>>
I had a large package sit on my front porch for almost 2 weeks while I was out of town once. Still there when I got back. Living on a cul-de-sac in a predominantly white area has its perks at times.

>>
Is this the normal case? They just place packages on your front porch?
What the fuck America. When I receive something and it doesn't fit the mailbox, even letters from China with a value below 1€, I have to go pick them up at the post office. No matter what company is delivering them.
>>
Explain you situation and see if your employer will allow you to have it shipped to your place of work. If you have anyone you trust you could also try having it shipped to them.
>>
>>51586579
It's a fucking bra and panties warehouse, dude. I don't think my boss can do anything even if he wanted to.
>>
>>51586723
>bra and panties warehouse
livin the dream
>>
>postal services in the US actually leave packages out in the open at the receiver's doorstep
What the fuck? Where I live, they ring at your door, and if nobody's there to receive the package the delivery man leaves a notice in your mailbox telling you when and where you can pick your item up (usually at the nearest post office). I'm more and more convinced that clapistan is a third world country.
>>
>>51586569
>>51586983
If you live in a nice neighborhood with white neighbors, leaving packages on the front porch is not a big deal. They give you a notice if it requires a signature of course.
>>
>>51587001
What if it's raining? Your package is still exposed to the elements for whatever time it sits there unattended. It's not a safe way to do it and it does not in any way, shape or form guarantee that the package is delivered. The correct way to do it is to consider a package delivered when it is in the actual hands of the receiver (or someone related).
>>
>>51587046
>What if it's raining?
>not having a covered porch
We're not talking about poor people.

>It's not a safe way to do it
It's perfectly safe in a good neighborhood.
>>
>>51587061
That's a fucking stupid mindset. You're basically saying that unless you live in some fancy suburb you can't order anything online because you risk getting your shit stolen. It's illogical, but I've come to expect the most illogical stuff from that backwards country anyways.
>>
>>51587082
You just require a signature, have it delivered to your workplace or request it is held at the warehouse/post office. Not a big deal.
>>
>>51586983
Usually not a big deal. Never had a single package stolen or missing. Granted, I've never lived in a black neighborhood, but I did live in a Mexican one.
>>
>>51586077
There are fucking niggers everywhere.
They fuck like rabbits and abandon their young so that they have a shitty upbringing, then the process repeats.
Literal human trash.
>>
>>51587139
Isn't the black population declining?
>>
>tfw I live in a gated community

Feels good, man.
>>
>>51587156
Yeah, disregard that idiot's assertion. Their birth rate is just at the "maintenance" level, or perhaps a bit below.

The hispanic population is exploding though, while the white population is plummeting.
>>
>>51587200
Really, the key is to just not live in the inner city anyway. You'll only have two choices, overpriced higher class neighborhoods or shit ones.
>>
Call UPS and tell them to deliver it at a different time of day, or to keep the package inside the post office/warehouse for you to pick up. It should take a single phone call - at least here in Europe when I have problems with DHL and such, that's all it takes.

>>51586016
>set up a webcam in my window pointed at it

This is also a good idea. In fact if you live in the nigger suburbs, then it would be a great idea in general.

>>51587139
>They fuck like rabbits and abandon their young so that they have a shitty upbringing, then the process repeats.

Those are gypsies. Or is it the same with black people in America?
>>
>>51587200
My ass.
All I see on my way to work is niglet after niglet walking around the shitty inner-city schools.
>>
>>51587264
>live in the inner city
>why do I see black people
Think through that one a bit.
>>
you could get some sort of basket box with a lid and tape a sign to ask the guy to live it inside
>>
>>51585977
I can't believe no one mentioned UPS my choice yet.

OP, sign up for UPS my choice. It's free and it will allow you to hold your package at a UPS location for you to pick up before it's even delivered. I've been using it all the time now because I hate waiting for the delivery truck.
>>
>>51587281
Why are they allowed to "own" the city?
No one should surrender their beautiful city for the knuckle draggers to ruin.
>>
>>51587233
Meh, I live in shekel hills.

I could honestly leave my door unlocked and my apartment unattended for a week and not have a single worry about being burglarized. Regularly have packages dropped off at my doorstep.

Wouldn't even feel this comfortable even in a white neighborhood.
>>
>>51587302
You're like 50-60 years too late complaining about that.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_flight
>>
Why is this your problem, OP?

If it gets stolen before you receive it, then they failed to deliver. It will be their job, and their risk, to send you a new one.
>>
why is American package delivery so shit? seriously, what the actual fuck.
>>
>>51587281
Plot twist, he's a nigger. His faulty reasoning skills is a red flag.
>>
>>51586344
credit cards offer consumer protection that debit cards don't have.
>>
>>51587200
>the white population is plummeting.

That's, unfortunately, perfectly normal due to various reasons. Chief amongst them is that whites are more likely to be brought up responsibly, which means that they are more likely to reproduce once they can support their kid, which means they have less kids than the ghetto girls who start pumping them as soon as they get their first periods.
But it is also the fault of multiculturalism being so prevalent and enforced among first world societies. Look up blacks in Paris or muslims in Sweden. It's quite alarming.

Also, watch the movie "Idiocracy". Give it a couple generations, and that's exactly where we will be. It's an old as hell movie, but every year I see the world getting closer and closer to that.
>>
>>51585977
A smart person would have realized that you could have just asked your boss if you could get it mailed to your workplace
>>
>Not having a post box that holds all parcels and mail addressed to both home and box address, not matter the size or delivery method
>>
>>51587332
Actually, his line of reasoning isn't completely off. I'm a spic, and I quite gladly live in a white suburb. The only few black people here are literally straight from Africa. No, urban ghetto kids here.
>>
>>51587340
Economics moreso than socioeconomics.

I'd perhaps attribute the plummeting white population to the social zeitgeist in the wake of second wave feminism moreso than any other factor, despite its benefits at the individual level.

Multiculturalism might undermine cultural values, but it doesn't make white people stop reproducing - Muslims in Europe have a fuckton of kids, and if that rubbed off on white European culture the consequence might actually be an upward trajectory in birthrates. But obviously that's not happening.

But when both sexes are too wrapped up in the economic rat race to raise a sizable family, obviously they tend to have less or no kids.

On the other hand, it's been becoming increasingly expensive to raise multiple children on a single parent's income since the 1970s, leading to the necessity of dual income families.

The way things are going, it'll cost at least a quarter of a million to put a single child born this year through college, and even then there's no guarantee of job availability - and if you think job automation's a bitch now, the coming decades are going to be a mess.
>>
>>51587139
You're a fucking cunt
>>
>>51587505
>it'll cost at least a quarter of a million to put a single child born this year through college, and even then there's no guarantee of job availability

This makes me wonder, why does that keep happening? Do people expect high-end jobs just because they went through college, and they can't find any, and they refuse to go flipping burgers? Or are there just no jobs, available, period?
>>
request all the boxes come with huge labels on them that read "BOX OF OVERDUE BILLS - PAY NOW" or something undesirable
>>
>>51587588
You're a fucking nigger.
>>
>>51587593
It's arguable that the skyrocketing demand is being responded to with skyrocketing prices, but the price increase is not proportional to that increase in demand or even inflation, which leads me to believe there's a bubble of a sort going on.

The rising demand for college education stemmed from the fact that a middle class income is not guaranteed by a high school diploma as it it was in the 60s and earlier.

People want high end jobs because they simply offer the standard of living we enjoyed during the postwar years.

Coincidentally, the economic troubles of the working/middle class beginning in the 1970s coincided (in addition to the both formerly wartorn WW2 countries and developing countries becoming formidable competition) with the rise of robotic automation in manufacturing, which ate up what was the working/middle class's bread and butter for decades.

In short, people just want to live the way their parents/grandparents did, but the system as we know it is a sinking ship due to technological innovation.

That's not to say luddism or socialism is the answer, but we really need to at least reconsider the economic/employment system as we know it.
>>
>>51587593
no jobs, PERIOD.
These days you're lucky to even get a job flipping burgers or washing dishes.
>>
>>51587593
>Do people expect high-end jobs just because they went through college, and they can't find any, and they refuse to go flipping burgers?
Mostly this. You see it all the time on 4chan, people blaming le ebil boomers or le dumb hr lady instead of thinking about what they can change about themselves.
>>
>>51587776
The only jobs that are easily available are the demoralizing blow your brains out mundane shit with extremely high turnover rates.
The only reason these positions are even productive at at all is because there's always new people coming in to replace the dropouts.
>>
>>51585977
At least you have a doorstep. The apartment I moved into is full of niggers and there's a sign near the mailboxes suggesting you make arrangements to pick up your packages at the Carrier because they get stolen so often.
>>
>>51585977
If you live in a residential area where people will either: ignore strangers in the neighborhood, or keep silent if they do, you'd be better served getting a PO Box.
>>
>>51586135

Its a multifaceted problem.

>Apprenticeships are all but gone in the US
>Trade Schools have mostly become "For Profit" schools. ie SCAM CITY ala ITT Tech, Full Sail ect.
>A college degree is basically required in lieu of experience in many fields
>Kids are dumb as fucking rocks because they keep cutting shit from the curriculum so kids will pass their classes
>The absolutely retarded increase in degree programs that are absolutely worthless

Its a very real problem and unfortunately it isn't going to get any better any time soon. The college degree of today has basically become a high school diploma v1.2
>>
>>51588018
All of the videos I've seen of people catching burglars on doorstep cameras were completely average looking with no disguise at all.

Makes me worried when I have this happening right in my area:

>>51588229
Even assuming you're adjusting for inflation, I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of living was comparatively lower in many respects back then. Rent and/or housing especially.

My grandmother raised eight kids working as a migrant laborer and later janitor, though the "it takes a village to raise a child" mentality was alive and well back then, so the entire tight-knit family was really involved in bringing up all the kids properly. Most turned out ok, typical working class folk; a couple made it to middle and even upper class.

Couldn't see that happening in this day and age given similar circumstances.

owning a place is (and has always been) the smarter choice. It's just that the initial cost is so high that many people can't afford it, and housing isn't something you can just *not* get for a few years while you save up for the down payment.
