>Downloaded 1,7 billion reddit comments to do some data mining for a project of mine. 1TB of data and a lot of compute hours to search through it for what I needed.
>Made a 3D model of my brain from some old MR images I had laying around on a CD. Took a few days to render out. Gonna 3D print it later.
>Got into 3D scanning, trying to 3D scan a forest where I live and put it into Unreal Engine so I can walk around in it in VR. Working with 3D point cloud data is very compute and RAM intensive
>Got a new DSLR, working with RAW files and big video files now, it's eating up disk space.
>Been using Schillsaver to experiment with storing some data in youtube videos, very compute heavy

I have a laptop that rarely gets used. A netbook that never gets used. A 11TB server for storing movies but since it's now full has not been switched on for the past year probably and a shitty old server with a bunch of too small IDE HDD's in it. Again never switched on. I did try to sell that once but the bids were low so I gave up.

I dunno, I just like having a high-powered PC. It's mostly the possibilities that I enjoy. I would hate to be on an older machine with no dedicated GPU and all of a sudden I want to run something that requires beef and not be able to because my hardware is too underpowered.
Because of work, don't really have time to enjoy my rig to its fullest. And people give mac users crap for being "2000$+ dollar facebook browsing machines". At the moment mines a 3500$ reddit+youtube+csgo machine.

I am the same, games and myself developed in different directions. I might get recidivist again when they release the casual tier Mirror's Edge Catalyst, but I probably only play it because I enjoy being a qt asian grill parkour.
