I am employed in Linework, which is pretty damn lucrative for how little anyone knows about it.
Of course it's a lot of hard work and some of the pale creatures that frequent /g/ might not be able to hack it but I'd recommend it to anyone with some backbone. You'll make about 900 bucks a week starting as a groundman and it only gets better from there.

I hover around in academia and might never have a proper job. So my PC is funded mostly by my generous elderly relatives who still treat me like a child.

I work in Finance (Analyst/Project Management).
sysadmin for a large enterprise in my area. It's alright, and honestly it can tire me out of computer stuff to the point I barely even want to sit at my battlestation but it's something that interests me, something I'm good at, and something that pays decently. I manage mostly Windows servers, we have probably about 2000 or so total in our environment. It pays the bills. I live fairly comfortably and am able to blow money on ridiculous shit. Just got a new computer at about $2K after monitors and everything, which since I work from home 1 day a week I can write that off, but that's besides the point. I also smoke a shit ton of pot, I collect comics and spends $20 - $40 on comics every week. I buy most of the latest vidya. I own a few guns and try to take them out as much as I can and I have some ok-ish gear to with them. I also collect toys and spend way more on that shit than I probably should. I don't make a ton of money but enough to support myself and my hobbies.
Diesel mechanic by day, pc building enthusiast by night. Odd mix I suppose. I just like putting things together that have tangible results.

AcTing like blue collar work has some sort of manly honour in it, good goy
With my minimum wage job.
I had a job working at a water park as a lifeguard one summer and spent like $1200 on my PC. I bought it in the summer of 2013. I've added onto it a little bit, added the 2TB HDD but that's about it.
I don't see myself upgrading or spending money on a new one partly because I don't play video games as much.
