OPO has better battery and far more XDA activity (like sultan rom and shit) but OP2 looks nicer, has a better display and a fingerprint scanner. But it's stick with shitty OxygenOS at the moment.

What are the important things to know finally jumping into smartphones for the first time ever, knowing literally nothing about 'em? What are the quality carriers on the US west coast? What features should I be looking for in a relatively cheap phone?
I've been trying to poke around various /g/ wikis but there isn't a lot of easily understandable "beginner" information.

I'm looking for a new tablet, and since the other thread is months old I'd thought I'd start a new one since it's the weekend of deals.
What's the best (in your opinion, or your favorite), <$300 USD tablet for comic reading? Only things I'll be doing with the tablet are reading / browsing the internet, Netflix, etc. I won't be playing games on it.
I'd ideally like at least 9 inches, with a high resolution (or does it really matter? Like some Samsung tablets have some low res like 800 x 1280 pixels,) and expandable memory would be great, but it's not a total dealbreaker.I like the Samsung Tab E, since it has expandable memory, but that resolution kinda bugs me a little.
Right now, I'm primary looking at the Lenovo Yoga's / A -10's. Since they have expandable memory, 10in screen, 1920x1080/1200 res, and I've got a Lenovo Y500 right now that I like, and I like the feel of the Yogas when I went to BB and tried them out.
Anyway, anyone else have any suggestions / ideas / opinions on which tablet to get?

Pick different suites that matter to you and your decision to purchase a smartphone. What do you care about in a smartphone? Easy to use or open source and heavily customizable? Display quality? Camera? Speakers? Fast updates and extended support? Craftsmanship and overall beaty of design of the phone? Good battery? Expandable storage/ battery? Developer support? Price?
This is the most important thing to you when buying a smartphone, because all phones are different. This is also a reason why many people buy iPhones, they just don't have time to compare things and they want an allrounder phone that"just werks".

If it's hardware fits your needs it is actually a really good phone. Just make sure you dont need mSD card storage or removable battery.

The Note series is your only option these days on Android.
A Jot Pro stylus on the iPhone 6S is another option if you like iOS better. 3D Touch works surprisingly well for drawing with a passive stylus.
So I bought a cheap white Galaxy S6 and there are some things I need to talk about, coming from a Moto X 2014:
- fuck TouchWiz. There are a lot of redundant apps that I won't ever use and can't even deactivate;
- the battery life is absolutely garbage. I don't know how I will be able to leave my house when this thing eats 2% everytime I check Facebook;
- it's really fast, except for games. Camera is great, though, but I wouldn't mind less processing in the selfie camera;
- while the screen is smaller than my Moto X, it actually looks bigger due to capacitive keys. I hated them but now I can see the value;
- fingerprint to unlock is amazing;
- this thing is very slippery.
Did I do well? Also, how can I improve battery? Should I get a skin or case for it?

Well, my screen was cracked and it was running CyanogenMod 13 anyway, but it was a great phone. I'll miss the lack of bloat, size and battery.
Also, there's no official CM for S6 yet, afaik. Maybe Marshmallow will help battery life? It did on the Moto X.

I can get a Nexus 6p 128gb for around $150, but I'm already really happy with my Nexus 6.
My main concern is the 5.7 vs 5.98 screen. I love my screen estate. I also like my ois and qi charging.
But I have no idea roughly how much space that .2" is. Comparing my friends 5.5 vs 6" vertical estate the 6" can fit at least 3 more status bars.
