I disagree. A system's security should not rely on keeping its blueprints a secret. Everything about the system should be public, apart from the secret key you use yourself, in order to validate the security of said system. Obfuscation makes you lazy, and people will find out. Expect the enemy to know the system, regardless of obfuscation.

Putting a few minor obstacles in the road (like I don't know, a firewall with ACLs?) along with some things an attacker may be unfamiliar with (possibly encrypting data and storing them in not-so-obvious locations) will make their job more painful than it'd need to be. No system is safe regardless. Those who want to get in presumably will anyway.
As I said, a mixture of both is a good thing. Using only one OR the other has obvious flaws in it.

I see what you mean, but I find hiding is no security at all, it merely postpones, at best. And when found, all 'security' goes straight out the window. Cryptography would make more sense.
