What's the best way to get to get the most power/range out of this thing? Besides setting the txpower manually. Right now I have an antenna like pic related. Is there something else I could buy to increase the reception/ability to send? I don't really know a lot about wireless signals.
yaggi antenna

what makes it shit?

Didn't really work for me, would lose connection all the time, bought a TL-WN722N and it works without any problems
Anyway that was just my experience, heard it can work flawless for some people

Does anyone know something like this that could go in your room/not hoisted outsid

Not that anon, but alfa is one of, if not the, best wifi adapter. You just had a bad apple.

That could go in your room. Alternatively, you could use a few high gain panel antennae, or a yagi. 24dbi is about the most you can get out of 2.4ghz.

How? I'm trying to envision it without a pole. Hanging from the ceiling or balancing or some shit

I can't think of a way that would be aesthetically pleasing. A panel antenna attached to a desk of a tripod would work. What are you trying to accomplish?

I live about 1.5 km from a condo complex and I'd like to have some setup that will allow me to reach that far.

and I have an outdoor area where I could probably stage something like that linked dish. Just don't want any permanent fixtures and be able to stick it in a closet when I'm done
