Hey guys, wife picked this up today. Got it for 150 bucks, normally it's like 208 or whatever. Thought i could use it successfully. We currently have an AT&T modem, which has the router and modem in one, but we are moving to a new area soon and are going to get better internet from AT&T since we currently are getting (lol) 3mb. We will be getting like 20 when we move. Can someone explain to me if this router is worth a shit? We both play video games and watch netflix and shit, 150 seems kinda up there, we can afford it but just thought id ask you guys.

Nope, not on stock firmware atleast.
Flash it with DD-WRT and then fix that shit up to your licking.
Also
>20 mb.
dats shit nigga.
I've had the "Nighthawk" for about 6 months now (its the earlier model of this router) Can confirm that Stock firmware is a bit lacking in comparison to DD-WRT, BUT you lose AC with DD-WRT. Stick with stock as it seems like you don't know much about networking (no shame in that) and you will be happy. Has support for openVPN client, and if you register the product you get the netgear dyndns clone option as well!

So the stock att&t one would be fine? But isnt that like a rental of like 7 bucks a month?

this isnt what she bought
>20mbps
Not worth it. You'll get pretty much the same speed as you would with a $50 N router
$150 for the nighthawk is a good deal tho
That's nice, but not as cool as this one.
It pretty much only needs a Nod sticker on it.

How is it a good deal if ill get the same speed with a stock standard at&t router?
>>51564415
>20mbs
Quad-Stream AC2350 WiFi - up to 2.33Gbps (600 + 1733 Mbps) is the specs, where do you get 20mb?
>>51564229
They are talking about the firmware
>>51564544
I don't understand
>>51564565
they weren't saying stick with the stock router the were suggesting whether you should change the stock firmware to DD-WRT
>>51564509
are you sure it's the router giving you those speeds and not the modem?
>>51564655
Oh so I should keep what she bought then?
>>51564730
yes but keep in mind that is a router only, you still will need a modem
>>51564755
Then whats the point of having the router if ill still have to pay for a modem?
>>51563513
I've had problems with my wireless HP printers and Win7. Linux, on the other hand, I have never had a similar problem with the same router. Not sure if that is the fault of the router or Windows but I've seen the same issue reported by other people online.
