Fuck you I know this is bait but here you go: If you have multiple hard drives it's really fucking easy to dual boot. Just set the hard drive with the OS you like the most to the default boot drive. If you want the other one, press whatever button your BIOS uses to interrupt it when starting up and pick the other hard drive. If you need to partition a single drive that still works. If you want to go full Linux but can't let go of your games, look up VGA passthrough and Virtualization and see if your hardware will work with it. If you can virtualize it correctly you can use Linux but game with about 95% of the preformance of using Windows in the virtualized game. Fair warning virtualization can be a pain in the ass but it's worth if it you want to go full Linux.

You don't really have to stop gaming. I made the switch and found that not only did everything work better (total shocker to me, running the pre-release of Ubuntu was more stable than Win7), but most of my games also worked (and were often faster). I now use Fedora and I can still use a Steam controller with Big Picture mode and play games like Borderlands 2 (and pre-sequel) or ARMA 3 or even LoL (with Wine)).
If you have any doubts take a weekend, back up your entire hard drive, install Ubuntu, Fedora, or whatever you want and try it out. Take a look at reddit.com/r/unixporn for some great themes and such. Look in your Steam library to see the games that support Linux. Check Google to see if there are ways to run the others. Worst comes to worst, you can always boot from a second hard disk (even external) to use Windows.

Linux is a lot more customisable than Windows. You have a larger say in what happens to your computer, as opposed to how Windows does what it wants a lot of the time.
Speed: If you have kinda low specs then general use is so much nicer on linux. Just trying to use windows search gives me cancer. Gaming is a different story but you don't need to game, you need a computer that works well, and for general purpose/programming its amazing. I despise having to switch to use windows but it happens. Run out of time to keep going but yeh, give it a serious try for at least a month then go from there.
