why? is it that hard to play in a nice chair? do you really need to have a "gaming" laptop? do you know what buz words are?
>>
>>51547233
None.
Build a desktop for gamming.
>>
>>51547292
>>51547289
Not OP, but some people just can't use desktops if their jobs have them moving around a lot, I personally have a desktop but I'm going to need a gaming laptop because of my job
>>
>>51547252
I've never seen that brand before but I quite like their laptops and prices, but I'm American anyone know any American sites like this?
>>

>i need a gaming laptop because of my job
So do you play games for a living or do you travel often and want to play games while travelling. If none of those apply to you then i dont see the point of spending more money on a "gaming" laptop.

Not him, but I'm army. Been searching around looking for a gaming laptop as well. I don't go home for months at a time, in fact I'm going home for Christmas then leaving in January for a year and a half. Usually end up moving every three to six weeks.

Also wouldn't mind seeing if I can't make a desktop work. It's just gotta be rugged, you know? Sometimes I don't get to personally handle my stuff 100% of the time.
>>
>>51548177
There are plenty of legit reasons to not own a desktop. If I had one right now it would be a major pain in my ass.

>Best gaming laptop
>Best price
Are you fucking retarded? There is no such thing.
You want gaming on the move? The more you pay, the more performance you get, there is no shortcuts on this.
There is of course a best laptop depending on the price-range but you're a fucking moron who didn't posted a budget.
>>
>>51548747
You would have to disassemble the desktop (at least partially). Only a complete moron transports a desktop without at least removing PCIe cards etc. I actually know somebody who tried this, they got what was coming.

Just get a laptop and don't listen to basement dwellers on /g/

Also not OP. I spend a lot of time out of town for work. Long boring nights in hotels. Would be hell without a nice laptop, honestly.

To OP, it entirely depends on your budget, what games you're trying to play, and what specifically you're interested in design wise (does weight, battery life, or screen size matter? Are you using an external keyboard/monitor?)

Hijacking this thread.

Thinking of buying this laptop for light gaming and school work. Any opinions, /g/?

its v nice but get the i3 instead for $50 cheaper retard
>>
>>51548908
I hadn't even considered that yet. I highly doubt a mover would do that successfully, much less securely. It's more of a hasty inventory, package, move, check and inventory, "your shit it's at this location".

Where is the best place to get a laptop? Alienware doesn't do good i7s, and overprice the Fuck out of top end parts, I looked at originpc which came out to $3.5k, I'm not sure if pcspecialist even does u.s. What's the best place to get it pieced together or bought from? Is it a viable option to assemble a laptop yourself?

I prefer AMD, but thanks anyway anon.
>>
>>51548177
Well maybe "need" wasn't the right word but I game a lot when I'm at home and I want to be able to continue gaming when I'm not stateside

>>51548747
Same bro, leaving January 2nd. Unit?
>>
>>51549034
You ain't going to be doing much gaming at all on that, anon
>>
>>51549338
Well considering I'm gonna boot Linux onto it, I didn't expect to do much gaming anyway. I've got a desktop at home for gaming, gaming on this would just be for killing time on campus between classes.

Hehe, yeah January 2nd here too. It's almost as if all of our leave ends on the same days...

I'm going to be enjoying me some Korea. Yeah. I hear they run a lot. Average of 11 min 2 mile runners. Apparently that's what happens when you run 9+ miles a day. hua.

But yeah, laptops! What other sites put them together?
>>
>>51549178
I have yet to see an equivalent AMD-based gaming laptop.
>>
I have an Asus ROG G75 I bought about 3 years ago. I highly recommend them. Its been a great laptop for my on the go gaming needs and still runs strong today. I actually just put an ssd in it a couple weeks back and it feels like new.

The only drawback is how heavy it is. But that will be a problem with most gaming laptops. Find a durable laptop bag and it will work great.

Anyone aware of black Friday deals for laptops?

Assemble a Clevo or Whitebook. Some of them look like Alienware piss, and some look like regular old laptops. I've heard that they're not tanks, but they're built at least as well as their competitors. Also, socketed/replaceable CPUs and RAM. I would likely get one if I had no way to use my desktop anymore. I've seen ones with good switchable graphics for $800, even pre-assembled. They're almost always 1080p and 15 or 17 inches, no "FULL 720P HD!!! (1366*768)" shit. But for anything not-games I just use some old Thinkpad.
>>
>>51550597
Where does one assemble either of those?

Only place I could easily find clevo was http://www.xoticpc.com/laptop-manufacturers.html#!/p=clear&use2=60
>>
>>51547233
Sagernotebooks
>>
>>51549638

I've only been in for a little over a year, but I still fucking hate running, fuck that. Korea sounds nice though, my ass is getting sent to the sandbox.

But as for the laptops, I haven't been looking too much but xoticpc has some pretty good prices from what I've seen. I personally wouldn't want anything less than a 970m, and I their prices are super good considering they're still cheaper than newegg even with the black friday sales. Anyone have any experience with them?

I bought an ASUS ROG G751YI with a 980M for under 1300$. Best investment I made in a while and it will cover my gaming needs for 3 to 4 years.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4860HQ
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M 4GB
1TB HDD
8GB DDR3 RAM

Hey bro, I'm in Korea too, it's great for shitposting. Usually I shitpost on /g/ with iphone bypass threads while moving between open wifi spots. Korea's great for that.

Anyways, I own a MSI GE70-2OC laptop and it's served me well over the past couple of years. Solid build quality and cooling system. Much better than that piece of shit HP I owned ten years ago. The only problem with it is that my Galaxy Note 4 doesn't play nice with it - it will not connect properly and keeps reconnecting. Thinking about selling it and upgrading.
