OK boss.
I've stepped on the cord of my DT770 while cooking in the kitchen, ripped them off my head and slammed into the tile floor, done this multiple times.
Still perfect.
>>
>>51543027
They're quite neutral and require deeper insertion than most IEMs. If you don't like it just return them.
>>
>>51543057
That just means that the DT770 can take a beating. The HD598 can take even more of a beating.

I know it sounds like shilling but the HD598 has really flexible plastic and they don't crack or snap anymore. So to call it a snapheiser is kind of unfair. Keep on calling it veiled or whatever because at least there is a basis for that.
>>
what are some good open headphones for around 100 euros?
>>
>>51543058
Neutral is what I'm going for and I'm used to ear plugs so it should be okay.
>>
Can you teach me to enjoy flat sound, senpai-tachi?
>>
>>51543087
How about you both are wrong. They aren't veiled unless you are driving then with massive output impedance jack. The headband is super flexible but the part connecting headband to the ear cups still tends to crack. Just like the plastic slider thing on Beyers tends to crack.
>>
What's a good pair of IEMS around $50?

>>
>>51543140
>Just like the plastic slider thing on Beyers tends to crack.
amazing how that still hasn't happened after owning them for years and repeatedly slamming them into a tile floor and throwing them across my living room
Also amazing is that they cost 13 dollars to replace and can be done with a philips screwdriver, while sennheiser headbands are held together with plastic clips (not screws) which have a high probability of cracking when just disassembling the headphone.
It's like a dash on a car, every time you take it apart you have a 99% chance of breaking some plastic tabs or clips.

>>51543228
So?
>>
>>51543250
Sennheiser users are edgy these days
>>
>>51543228
No it isn't.

SHP9500 has weaker sub-bass, weaker upper midrange and more treble when comparing it to the HD600, this was from my personal listening session. It's downright inferior.

The fags who claim HD600 has no bass in these threads should hear the SHP9500's sub bass. It's a joke, like a bit more bass than an AD700x.
>>

>I swear I've seen that in new versions too. It starts to crack vertically from the outside edge of the part where the headband slides in.
No, that's on the old revisions.

Maybe it was an old unit. With the headphone being fairly popular, if that occurred we would have been noticed about it already on /hpg/ and there would be a lot of pitcures.

Good for you. However studies have shown that on average people tend to prefer a warm colored sound.
Just think about the X2: they're tuned to appeal the average consumer with a warm sound, hence the majority of those who try them will enjoy them; professional (and less professional) reviews praise them: they're not perfectly neutral sounding, they don't try to, and yet they're as appreciated as more expensive, more "audiophile-grade", gear, if not even more.
If Philips wanted to create a perfectly neutral sounding headphone I'm sure they'd do it, the fact is that neutral is not what people want: flat FR is just a meme, a bad one.
>>
>>51544042
I've been reading some reviews on them and as usual Tyll's review got my interest. He says that he wouldn't recommend it for audio professionals because its treble is harsh, but would it be good for a heavy music listener who can spend this much?
>>
>>51544097
>However studies have shown that on average people tend to prefer a warm colored sound.
Somewhat true, elevated bass response and slightly recessed treble response are desirable.
>Just think about the X2: they're tuned to appeal the average consumer with a warm sound
Except they fail spectacularly. The subbass is non-existant and the muddy midbass lacks depth as a result, so it's just boomy. There is an edginess to the treble and a midrange suckout as well. As a DT880 owner I can say that the HD650 and LCD2 would be much closer to this target.

How did I do, /g/?

No, you paid 50% overprice.

My QH-90's just broke. I'm getting a new pair of headphones tomorrow on black friday, the question is; Do I rather go a pair of studio headphones + a table microphone or just a gaming headset?

I will be using it mostly for producing music, playing games and watching tv shows or movies or what have you.

Also my budget would be around like $200.

If I have regular headphones and want to get a desk-top microphone for VOIP, but only have 1 AUX combined mic/headphone input on my laptop...
What should I do?

The O2/ODAC does not bottleneck the HD800 in any possible way, in fact the HD800 is the bottleneck in your system.

OPINIONS? Think this is really good but i don't usually buy headphones
>>
>>51547939
Because electronics are relatively simple in that regard, only idiotphiles who think you need $5,000 gear to get 'the most' out of a headphone blow it out of proportion clearly due to their lack of understanding in how electronics work and interact.
>>
>>51547973
I don't understand Sennheiser, they're undercutting the HD558 with what is literally a foam modded HD558 which has a base price of double the HD558.
>>
>>51547939
Because the DAC and the amp has flawless accuracy beyond the threshold of human hearing. The HD800 doesn't, and that applies for any other speaker or headphone out theree.

A large part of audiophile culture is due to placebo effect and expectation bias.

Most amplifier blind tests show that there is no difference between amps when the frequancy response, noise, distortion and output impedance are within acceptable levels.

>>51547962
A few years ago it was $40, I got mine then, but $50 is the lowest it has been in recent times.

I'd recommend the M40x. It has more bass, MDR-V6 has a flatter frequency response but the M40x has removable cable and better pads.

>>51547973
HD558 and the regular HD598 sound the same, whichever one you buy is up to you.

reposting question from last thread:

Looking for advice. I've had AKG K26P headphones, which were later renamed K414P, for a VERY long time. 10 years by now. I like that they have extremely high bass and a bit tighter than they should be (can get uncomfortable over a long time, but it also means they provide a shit ton of sound isolation, especially for such a cheap headphone).

Unfortunately, the plastic parts on them wear out over time. I had 3-4 of these and kept using them as spare parts for each other, but my last one is starting to get loose as well.

I've found that they re-released it again as the K404. However this was a long time ago, and now these aren't available anymore either.

Does anyone know if these phones are still available, perhaps under a different name, or a different head band? The K430 looks pretty similar, and I can find it on amazon for a great price, but I don't know if they sound the same. I'm really used to how bass heavy these phones are.

Does anyone know how the K430 sound?

The Koss Portapro would be a great replacement, but they are not as tight as I like them to be, and do not give that little sound isolation that makes the K414P so awesome. I have one, and they sound pretty much the same indoors, but they sound much worse outdoors.
>>
>>51548368
The only real complaint against the M40x is that its bass is weaker than most would prefer.

Anybody that has tried both, hd558 or ad900x?

I'm looking for a pair of open headphones caring almost solely on sound quality and no need for amp and as of right now these are the most attractive options

558 are 100 USD
ad900x are 160 USD [I'm in Canada though so actually a lot more expensive :( ]
