You need a hobby that isn't downloading anime

>>
You don't need every kawaii uguu~ chinese cartoon ever made in 1080p blu-ray rip quality. You don't need the drama CDs/soundtracks in FLAC, either.
>>
>everyone automatically assuming it's anime

there is more stuff out there to store than anime guys..
>>
>>51538506
Yeah Anime soundtracks are nice too.
>>
>>51538506

You're right about the porn. 4TB is dedicated to porn. Not just anime porn though, thats a small percentage.

Holy shit, why? I use my desktop almost every day and I've only used >109gb

What? I'm just saying it's obvious why you seem to be unable to fill a tiny 1TB HDD.

My PS2 collection alone is like 2TB.

damn, if I were to start a retro vidya collection, would a single 1TB drive hold every game from 1970-2000?

>>51538625
Well, probably because i'm not a gamer, but nobody needs as much space as in the OP pic

I believe so. Here is the size of my retro collection, around 400GB. If you include PS1 games, that's 500GB, so just still under the 1TB mark.(My dreamcast collection only has 50 games, definitely not complete but w/e)

>>51538647
>nobody needs as much space as in the OP pic
I do.
I plan on moving up to 40TB soon. I seriously need it. I'm not hogging all this data for myself. It's so when shit goes down, there will be some kind guy that has fucking everything. When I get 1gps speeds, you can bet I plan on mass sharing it. Soon.

this anon >>51538550

I used to have 2x 3TB seagates, but they both died in the summer this year. It fucking sucked, because I basically almost had a full rip of sad panda and thousands of DLsite games.

I'm never trusting seagate again for sure. maybe it was a bad batch, but I've already heard too many issues related to seashit.

>>51538739
dont need to
>>
>>51538871
I dunno. I just upgraded to 1511 and that's how it looks at 2048x1536.
>>
>>51538877
All hard drives die, man. that's why you should always run a raid if your stuff is that important
>>
>>51538918
I have WD 1GB Element from 5 years back and it sitll has not died.

It just runs at 34 permanently.

It went down stone stairs, seven to eight steps, and didn't break down.

My Seagates have broken from just staring them.
>>
>>51538918
I was in the process of saving up for enough hdd's to properly raid. the more data you have to raid, the more expensive
>>
I could never store that much on a Windows system. I'd be too paranoid that, if by some horrible miracle I get infected with malware, SOMETHING would be changed and I'd risk reinfection.

I know it's unlikely and there are ways to confirm that this didn't happen but that doesn't sate my paranoia.
>>

Got 20TB dedicated to a Plex server I run for my friends/family. I used about 18 of it.
>>
>>51538956
Bare storage doesn't have any system directories where something might get auto-run. A reinstall of Windows will never look to a storage drive to run anything.
>>
>>51539000
you say that, until the government bans porn
>>
>>51539000
I don't see how it's different from any other hobby. It actually takes a lot of work and effort to make sure everything is organized and clean.

usefulness is subjective.
>>
>>51538956
The chances of malware fucking over your external storage devices are about the same as your house burning down.
