Why aren't you using Fedora /g/?

It has bleeding edge packages, it is user friendly and in the same time stable enough for average desktop. Even Linus Torvalds use this distro.

Nvidia for Xorg 1.18 was actually released few days ago dude, check out RPMfusion page.

>>51534572
I'm interested in why you think that. My only complaint with it is that it's terribly slow. It hasn't ever fucked me over like apt has, but I don't think it scores points for that because basically every other package manager does better dependency resolution than apt.

I dunno. Apart from it's nice readable output (another thing apt falls short at) I don't see what's so great about it. check-update is annoyingly pointless since it grabs the repos whenever you issue a command whether you want it to or not, and doing so is way too slow.

I suppose it's probably not dnf's fault, actually, it's their repo server, but still.

Debian "just works" except you have to download a separate deb file to be able to use wifi drivers, extract them with dpkg, put them on a usb drive, pray to Odin the install will actually detect them, then when you're installed you apt-get mpv, only to realize you don't have the OSD because the version in Debians repos is 2 years old.

You're already using an unstable distro so why not just use Debian testing or sid now? fedup and the 6 month life cycle in general are more reasons why I dislike Fedora. I know you don't _have_ to upgrade with each new release, but like most of you I have autism that prevents me from not upgrading on release day.

I just use Debian testing knowing I never have to reinstall unless something goes wrong. (Which hasn't happened for me in nearly ten years.)

Open source remote desktop programs, installed by a script. Bammmm. Not a virus nor malware.

I'm actually seriously considering a move to Fedora from Xubuntu because it's going to move to Wayland at some point, which is looking like it will be the next X11.

Not sure about not having PPAs though, that shit could suck. I don't know why Fedora doesn't somehow become PPA-compatible. PPAs fucking rock, I use so many.
>>
>>51541957
Wayland is a protocol

The next X11 would be a generic wayland compositor that provided RDP but did not manage the windows, relying on a script or program to manage them through the interfaces it provided.

The #1 mistake linux users will make is treating wayland like X and making a million different compositors for all their special snowflake window management needs instead of using a common configurable one.

Okay. Well, if you bothered to read the docs you'd know that all you need to do is create (read: copy & paste) a .fonts.conf and log out. Infinality isn't required anymore.
