It's that time of the year when electricals become much cheaper than usual. Let's make a thread dedicated to this and help everyone out!

Post some of the things that'll be on sale or ask for help/rec others what they're looking for!

Don't let the thread die!

For cheapies, I highly recommend the Panasonic RP‑HJE120. They're far from perfect, but soooo much better than most shitty earbuds I've tried. A bit muddy, otherwise pretty good. No ridiculous, uncontrolled, ear-piercing highs, and no horrid, loose, farty, over-emphasized bass.

I'm looking to buy a 42-48 inch tv that can play mkv files from a usb 1080p or 4k but not too expensive.

Can anyone help me out? It's too hard trying to pick a tv out of all of them out there

Is there a reason why this SSD is so cheap? The specs are just as good as other SSDs, but it's a lot cheaper for some reason. I'm thinking it must have some negatives, but the only thing I can find is that is has a 3 year warranty instead of a 10 year warranty like the Samsung EVO.

Samsung or Sandisk for cheap.
Samsung or Intel for great and expensive.

Samsung is pretty much the best one doing SSDs right now. The PRO is great and the EVO is fine even with the retarded bullshit from the 840 EVO.
Intel is extremely good, but expensive. Their 750 is stupid fast, but I don't know if it's like the jump from HDD to SSD. Samsung has the 950 PRO, but it appears to be throttling.
I used to like Crucial, but their recent SSDs are falling behind in performance. They haven't thrown out anything good after their m4 and m500 SSDs. Some of them are very efficient though, so keep that in mind for laptops.
The others are fine too, but I don't have hands on experience.

I don't think I need anything.
There are some sweet SSDs going on sale, but every device already has one. PCI-e SSDs might be cool, but that's next year.
I don't need a more powerful GPU with the current displays.
G-sync monitors are stupid expensive and there is still no 1440p 120Hz-144Hz IPS display with freesync enabled for all refresh range.
Fiery Bridge can handle until Zen and Broadwell-E.
Why add more RAM when DDR4?

Ah, I know. More storage. A 4TB drive for $100 sounds awesome.

2015 kind of sucks.

2016 has Pascal with HBM that will be a big jump from Maxwell.

My parents want to get a laptop for a friends of theirs daughter that is in European country. Is there something they should look out for when buying laptop? >>
>>51530700
Powerful CPU (I3-XXXU/I5-XXXXU) and a 1080p screen, also good battery.

Everything else its not really important for a college computer.
500GB is decent storage for a normal person and more than enough.
14+" 1080p is more than enough.
Watch out what kind of laptop you buy because most are a scam (See Lenovo G405 for example).

I have this monitor, it seriously looks really nice one you get the right calibration profile. Colors are deep and vivid, way better than any other TN panel I've had.

The only downside is the viewing angle, but it's not that bad and if you need a big viewing angle on a 144hz gaming monitor, you're doing something wrong.

Question, should I only look for Intel I5 cpus or Celeron/Pentium are good? My father got some email from Microcenter and there's couple of laptops that are really cheap and they have those cpus, but I told him that the i5 is trusted for daily use, and the i7 is more powerful. How do I determine how good of a battery is without testing it in store or online?

>>51530898
Do you have Microcenter near you? I copped 4770k+Motherboard for $250, they have DefineR4 for like $60, 3t external hd for $100, ordered 780 from Newegg along with the ram and put together a decent pc. just check on pcpartpicker to see if they have any deals, and make sure to click "Search near me" to see if there stores around you that might have nice sales.
>>
>>51530949
Celeron CPUs will have problems with most tasks, Pentium would be "Just fine", but I3 would be just perfect, a I5 would be more than enough.

Remember they are laptop CPUs which mean they are weaker than their desktop counterparts.
>>
>>51530949
No Micro anywhere near me. Or Frys. One of the many downfalls of WNY

So is Dell the best deal for the xbox one? I just built a desktop so I was going to buy an xbox for my son but was hoping to save some money and still get him the good shit like Fallout 4.
>>
>>51530949
My Pentium is fine on my desktop. I got it as a placeholder for when Broadwell came out then never bothered to upgrade.

I use it for Office, web browsing and programming.

More cores would be helpful when running a virtual machine, or when a rogue program pins a core. Some games these days are optimized for four cores, so that would be a problem, as would heavy multithreaded compute work like rendering. But it works well enough for me that the benefit of upgrading doesn't seem worth the annoyance of opening up my case.
>>
>>51530982
>>51531050
Yea I fully understand that, anything else I should be worried about buying laptop in USA and shipping it to Europe? How will their chargers work there etc? Keep in mind that this laptop will most likely be the only computerized thing in their household, so in a way it needs to do anything a noob wants to do, plus more.

>>51530999
I mean if you are really eager to get some deals, you can drive to Microcenter, I'm located in Brooklyn and before they opened near me, the closest store was like a hour away, but the savings there where so worth it, father bought a brand new 60' tv 40% off.
>>
>>51530812

Hi all,

I want a new psu, but am having trouble figuring out which one to get. My budget is around $80 CAD but cheaper is better, although I don't mind paying a little over $80 if it's worth it. Both of these got good reviews on amazon, but on tomshardware or other forums, some people always say that these two are a little shit. So... Which should I get (or recommend something better). Currently, 500W is more than enough but if if I want to make a new desktop in 3-4 years, ideally I wouldn't want to have to buy a new psu, so futureproofing is something I want to take into consideration.

$60 vs. $77.

The Nexus 6's have been going on pretty good sales recently and are still great phones if you're okay with the size. Other than that the Moto X and the new OnePlus One should be available to purchase without an invite as well I think.

If you mean low price like $100 you're probably best off with something like a Moto G.

It's on the ads. Some of them online only/e-mail and some on the official ad.

Still though, every time I went to frys, they posted up the online adds in-store as well and do a great job of getting you on the e-mail list asap. As well, they also tend to post deals days-of that you won't see online/paper ad.

Whats kind of shitty this time around is lack of cpu/motherboard combo deals other then a super budget $30 one I think. They usually offer a bunch each year, i got 970 mobo and FX 6350 for $80 last year.

i'm pretty sure PSU design dictates that it can HANDLE up to whatever it's rated at. You could put a 1200W PSU into a build that uses 120W. It will still work, but obviously be a waste of a good PSU.

You linked me to a website that aggregates deals, so what? Was that your rebuttal? Great. Retailers that participate during Black Friday are trying to get ride of excessive inventory by marking down on their price tags and literally giving away their overstock.

The easiest way for manufacturers to ease retailers in getting rid of their stock is by exorbitantly marking down their prices on Black Friday and then if they've cleared out their stock, refill that stock and if they haven't cleared out, renegotiate a fixed lower price with retailers.

Only welfare trailer trash and idiots go out to camp outside Walmart. This thread is just that.

Show me an item on that website that has had a pricetag that hasn't fluctuated the entire year and wasn't marked lower than what it's been for all year, and is on sale for Black Friday. Bonus points is if it remains one of the same prices that it went through round year after Black Friday.

You idiots literally have no idea how retail works. You'll swallow all of it up and ignore that the same deals you'll see on Black Friday will show up during the entire month of December and eventually baseline for the rest of next year.
