No OP, the problem here is not GNU/linux, it's the openCASCADE CAD kernel. A CAD kernel is all code for doing the complex geometry stuff that makes CAD work. Software like solidworks is really just a gui for the parasolid CAD kernel.(the people who wrote solidworks didn't write parasolid).
Likewise, freeCAD is just a gui for openCASCADE. Thing is openCASCADE sucks.
Heck Stallman himself admits that there is no good free as in freedom CAD software.
For the time being, use QCAD, it's 2d but it's pretty good

well I´m an architect and literally every engineer I work with uses AutoCAD. Thank god Im running revit and it makes importing that much easier because when I wasn´t on my own´, companyI was part of was using ArchiCAD and importing dwgs was actually a bit of a hustle
