Does anyone here own an iPad or android tablet?

What do you even use it for, that you can't do on a smartphone?
>>
I have an old samsung tablet, sitting there collecting dust because my sister got an ipod. I plan to use it for ebooks
>>

>ebooks
don't you find reading off of an LCD/AMOLED screen to hurt your eyes? why not sell it and buy a kindle or something similar?
>>
>>51522563
Netflix and manga
>>
>>51522563
reading muh manga chapters
also listening music
watching movies
and browsing the internet while lying in bed
bigger screen makes it more useful than a phone
>>
>>51522563
Read manga without zooming. 13.3" masterrace!
>>
>>51522563
You use if for mostly the same stuff, it's just bigger and nicer.
>>
>>51522563
I have iPad air 2

using it as my fap station streaming porn on apps call VK
>>
>>51522563
In terms of hours of use per day, my tablet is probably my most used device. I use it to read books, browse the internet, watch anime, and shitpost on 4chan.
>>
>>51522563
I have an old Asus lying around, used to use it for movies for my kid in the car but the touchscreen has gone wonky and doesn't always react correctly causing me to put it in a draw. Is there something I can use it for, some easily piratable app that lets me use it as a (probably laggy) second screen when gaming on my PC? I just can't bring myself to throw it out or use it as a fucking huge USB drive.
>>
>>51522563
Chink Windows tablet here. I only use it for mango and reading documents, pdfs, etc. Fuck reading mango on a screen less than 9 american centimeters.
>>
I like fashion you like fashion
>>
>>51522686
hook it up to an external usb HDD and use it as a seedbox for energy efficient torrenting
>>
>>51522563
Not currently using it, plan is to buy the GF a chromecast for Xmas and she can use it as a fuckawesome TV remote in the bedroom. There is no access to an aerial and the old WDTV doesn't play well with media portal.
>>
>>51522712
>>51522686
if the camera is good, you can also use it as a security camera or something, or use some app to display a slideshow of your favorite flickr photographers recent photos and hang it on a wall or on a desk.
>>
>>51522712
Good idea, but the touchscreen would make that tricky, I assume you mean to teamview into it or something? My HTPC is on 24/7 for TV recordings anyway, so it's basically my NAS too.
>>
>>51522756
>the touchscreen would make that tricky
you can access most torrent clients through your web browser, so you would just add torrents through your phone or pc
>>
>>51522686
use it as portable router
>>
>>51522776
I think you just blew my mind. You telling menu have been setting up torrents with my shitty HTPC mini remote this whole time and I could have just done it on my office PC? Shit, I gotta get out from under this rock.

got an ipad 2 64GB for $150 off a friend,
I personally haven't done too much with it
I've used it to view recipes in the kitchen,
and I've played a few casual games. And sometimes I use it instead of my laptop for web browsing in the living room because my laptop has a million things plugged into it and the battery doesn't last much more than an hour off the charger. And sometimes I use it to watch netflix/plex in bed. My waifu uses it to read comics and manga sometimes and she used to play games on it when she had a shitty iphone 3gs/4. And since it's the 64GB model I can keep my entire music collection on it and sync videos in plex if I need some offline content, which is honestly rare since I have unlimited data on my 6+.
I'd say it was well worth the $150, if it was much more than $200 I wouldn't want it.
>>
I have a Nvidia Shield tablet with the controller. I taken it to the gym and play half life on the stationary bikes.
>>
I have an ASUS tablet
I look at it whenever I want to feel regret
>>
I have an older model nook with cyanogenmod android on it.

Im a maths student, so I use it for all my textbooks. It is much better for me to be able to carry around all my organized maths notes and only a table rather than one notebook and many large textbooks.

I also use it to listen to podcasts (through the speaker usually. I use it like a radio. Good quality) and browse the internet.

I got it from a family member who wasn't using it. Installed the OS myself. I really like it and I would buy a newer model if this one broke
>>
A buddy of mine gave me his old iPad 2 when he upgraded to the Air 2. It has VLC, but it's an enormous pain in the ass to use, and the fact that you can't increase the storage makes it useless as a media consumption device for me. Even the 128GB models of iPad would cower in fear at my movie and TV show collection.

I can see the appeal of a handheld device for watching movies in bed or whatever, but the iPad definitely isn't the best device for it.
>>
>>51522592
LCD yes, amoled with white on black font no, you can use it but a standard eBook reader is still better
>>
>>51523179
>my movie and TV show collection.
use a nas and stream to all your devices.
>>
>>51523179
>what is network storage
>>
>>51522563
Big display is better for everything and i dont want to have huge phone
I use it for travel
>>
>>51523204
amoled might be better than LCD but not comparable to the comfy reading on e-ink.

Either way, a kindle is lighter, cheaper and the battery lasts wayyyy longer.

Shield Tablet here.
Plug into TV via HDMI.
Games console.
Get bent faggot.
>>
>iPad Air2
>reading kindle books and pdfs
>porn
>surfing in bed on couch and while taking a shit
>display cooking recipes
>listening to music/videos in bed
>when traveling I take it with me together with my laptop for additional battery life and storage
>remote-controlling XBMC
>streaming videos from my NAS
Got it for free from my employer, I use it surprisingly often. For most tasks its just more comfy than a phone due to the bigger screen.
>>
>>51522563
Android tablet, manga and watching shit while rolling in bed.
>>
>>51523312
>Games console.
>android
kek
>HDMI
You can plug any android smartphone to a TV using HDMI, if they don't have the port, you get a USB-micro to HDMI converter.
>shield
you can use a Playstation controller on android, at least on Sony smartphones.
>android games
shit taste
>>
>>51522563
Read comic books

I use my android tablet to browse 4choon, watch animu and snapchat the gorillion porn clips I've saved...

I'm on 4chan all fucking day, I better be able to read a book on the same device without eye strain.
>>
>>51522563
I don't, but at Uni I see a lot of iPad (mini) 's and some android tablets. You can swipe through the slides and annotate with a pen as you go.
Lookup something in a book during the break.
Download a research paper and read it on the train back home.

That kind of stuff, pretty useful if you ask me
