Guys I dun goofed. I downloaded some corrupted data (fallout 4 kek) and my computer doesn't turn on. So before I send it to get replaced or a refund I want to copy all my stuff from the hard drive. But when I try to access it from my laptop (I'm using a docking station) it shows that I have to do a format. So basically what I'm asking is how do recover the data from a quick format? I tried googling but I found softwares to use but I had to pay for them. Do you guys know of any good methods that I can do myself for free/minimal cost?

It might have just deleted the partition table or zeroed the drive. If it was a cryptolocker it didn't try to extort any money from him like they tend to do. Just encrypting the drive is kinda pointless.
