Hey /g/ the family laptop finally died after 4 years
Now being young and immensely stupid I put some dumb shit on the computer at times and deleted it
Now they're going to recover the files and out them on a thumb drive, what are the chances deleted files will show back up? Thanks

Bump, pls help
Don't drop the soap son.

Nothing illegal, really, just shit I don't want my family to see
>>51517144
Do the recovery yourself then faggot.

My main plan at the moment, but I'm not sure if they're planning to let the "computer guy" do it or do it themselves
Maybe your dad will like what he sees and diddle you in the bum ;)

D-do you think he will, anon?
change the hardisk
You're fucked. Anything that was ever on the HDD will be recovered. Everyone will see how many sharpies you can fit in your asshole.

So from what I understand, this will mean it will only recover backed up files right?
depends on the procedure, some of them will take all information that is not overwritten.

Could you elaborate for me please?

How much time do you have before they get the guy to do it, and how much money do you have available?
This, IMO, is your only recourse:
>Buy a brand-new 2.5" HDD (it will have nothing on it, which is VITAL)
>Take old HDD out of laptop
>Put them both into a spare desktop computer
>Make an image of the original HDD, and copy it onto the new HDD
>(this way, all the non-deleted data will show up on the new HDD, but all the wiped stuff will be gone fully)
>Put the new HDD back into the laptop, and get rid of the original HDD
This may or may not work, because Windows has a funny HWID system that seems to work half the time.
Good luch though, and hide your gay furry futa trap porn better in the future.

I actually have no idea how long I have, but will any desktop computer take two HDDs at once?
Thanks in advance

>will any desktop computer take two HDDs at once?
Most non-shit computers definitely have 4 SATA connections available, and if you have 1 CD drive, then you can attach 3 hard drives total.
The issue comes with power cables, because many prebuilts don't come with more than 2 sata power cables, which are already used by the CD drive and main SATA hdd.
The best solution would have been to get a "disk cleaning" program (like ccleaner) which has an option to fully wipe off all free space on a hard drive, but if the computer is already dead, then that option is gone.

Also, if you find that there aren't enough SATA power cables, but enough SATA data ports and a spare Molex port, you can grab a molex->sata adapter (e.g. www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-12-Inch-Power-Cable-Adapter/dp/B0002GRUV4/)

What if I suggest to take the hard drive out of the old laptop and put it in the new one?
