Any version of Ubuntu that isn't regular ubuntu. My first distro was xubuntu and it was easy to get used t the interface which is normally the biggest problem getting used to linux after program support.

I love these stupid fuckers recommending alternate versions of Ubuntu as if the standard Unity desktop isn't the most polished and easiest for beginners.

Not the same anon, and I am not sure what's your point but: I have been using Linux for 16 years already and I pretty much agree with >>51512788 (except maybe for Mint, which I never tried)

Mint, Ubuntu or Fedora.

Over the years I installed that on the family computer and my tech retarded mum didn't have any real issues with the software. Half the time she knocked the printers power out while vaccuming and that made for some trivial phone conversations.

Listen to >>51512788, except for Mint. All of these OS's teach you the basics while being easy to use. Be careful about Debian cause it runs best with open-source drivers. Any proprietary drivers you'll have to download yourself, so check all the info on all components of your computer so you can get the right drivers

Literally diabetes in a can.

Probably because the others have environments similar to Windows where most beginners are probably coming from, so it doesn't require as much of a adjustment. Unity I would actually say is closer in operation to OSX, just the "dock" is stuck to the left side.

Mint or Ubuntu are currently the mist user friendly distros out there.

ArchLinux

It's great for figuring out how to actually into linux, but once you figure out how big of an ass Systemd is you will switch to Gentoo. Arch is great for beginner learning about the components of your OS, without going all the way deep, like Gentoo. Arch is massively babby tier though, so you should use it until you are fed up with the "toy" concept.

Better off just installing lxqt

The issue is that Gnome will not "remember" the size and location of the window in which an app was last run. For example - I run Disk Usage Analyzer and stretch the window to be the full height of the screen and about half the width of the screen and move it to the far left of the desktop. I then close the app. The next time I run it the app comes up in a "default" window size, not the size I last used, positioned randomly on the desktop.

Is there some fix for this loonix crap?

>inb4 install Compiz

opensuse, mint or ubuntu in that order.
