GPL software cannot be botnet unless people are too retarded to audit it
If the code is obfuscated or badly written then don't fucking use it
>>
>>51505949
>unless people are too retarded to audit it.
Has it been audited by professionals? No.
Was it made by the biggest botnet provider? Yes.
Should I trust Google? No
>inb4 go read the code if you don't trust it.
No, it is not that easy to audit millions of lines of code.
>>
one is stable, the other is not
>>
>>51506025
If you want to determine whether it's a botnet it would not involve going through the millions of LoC you fucking retard. It would probably take a skilled developer a week at most to locate and analyze the specific areas of botnet code.
>>
>>51505949
>GPL software
Chromium ain't GPL
also theres a reason why forks like iridium and inox exist, Chromium itself pings shit to google every now and then without an option to opt out, a few months ago it even downloaded some binary blobs that recorded everything your microphone picked up.
>>
>>51505159
One has flash other does not
One updates automatically other does not
One has crash reporter other does not(doubtful)
One is completely botnet(sort off) while the other is an example of open sourced botnet
One is slower because of Baka Flash while the other is faster in benchmarking tests(Both are same when the web developers are not a kek and does'nt use flash)
Well thats all I can think of for now.
I have an equations for this
Chromium + Flash + Foxit + Automatic Updater + Crash reporter = Google Chrome
>>
One is botnet and the other is still botnet
>>
>>51507380
This

How the fuck can anyone still believe it's not botnet?

Anything remotely involving google is botnet

Is Iridium worth using?

I mean. Feels like Chromium without Google is what a lot of people here would like but I've never heard about it.
>>
>>51508038
haha, nice one!

which is?

>>
>>51508061

>>
>>51508144
Why did they shoot themselves in the foot by making it closed source?

I mean. Feels like they could get a foot in the hobbyist market now that Mozilla is going full google. The normies aren't gonna switch to it, so what market do they have? Old Opera users?
>>
>>51507559
>One is completely botnet(sort off) while the other is an example of open sourced botnet

Why doesn't anyone just fork it and remove the botnet capabilties?
You leterally only make the program smaller and it's not difficult to remove code. Hell, you don't even need to remove it; just break the functionality of downloading and running blobs. It's EXACTLY like having the source code to the trojan virus.
>>
>>51508170
Yes Did they finally fix all the html5 issues?
>>
>>51508222
Isn't that what Iridium does?
>>

Inox if you are on Arch and then there is >>51508243
>>
>>51508232
Nope, but it happens infrequently enough now that it doesn't bother me too often. I need to open Firefox to watch a video once every day or two, but that's it.
>>
>>51508232
If you're talking about this http://chromium.woolyss.com/#html5-audio-video
then I guess not. No AAC, MP3, H.264/MP4
>>
>>51508254
Yeah. That's what I would call works like shit.
Funnily enough it's the reverse for me on Linux since Firefox Linux is shit with flash.
>>

Chromium is just so fuckin' fast and stable.

But you need these two extensions to make it comfy.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/downloads-your-download-b/gjihnjejboipjmadkpmknccijhibnpfe?hl=en

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/quick-bookmarks/ajgmnekpakhkbnhehnpkminifbpmkghg?utm_source=chrome-app-launcher-info-dialog

These two extensions add two features I really missed from firefox. A bookmarks button with a drop down menu, and a downloads button that works like the firefox downloads button instead of the wasteful downloads bar across the bottom of the screen.
>>
>>51505159
none of them is Pale Moon

>broken flash elements
>broken shockwave elements
>issues with html5 playback
>issues with mpeg playback
>XHR support issues
What do I mean?
Youtube playback issues on a fresh install of windows "An error has occured"
Facebook playback issues on a fresh install of windows "An error has occured"
Some website elements fail to load entirely.
College course websites with online examinations/exercises fail to load/are impossible to do using chromium because of missing page elements.

>>

>furry browser
>made by one autist

>>
>>51508366
I can't comment on those issues, because I neither use Flash nor Shockwave. As mentioned above, no AAC, MP3, H.264/MP4 support, which is fine by me because yt is ogg anyway.
And I have never had problems on college course sites before. Maybe those things have been fixed? You could try an up-to-date build from chocolatey.org.
>>
>>51508437
They are not fixed, I was using chromium as of last week and could not complete exercises in mcgrawhill connect. Tons and tons of issues in the browser; waterfox/nightly are the only two browsers which I can stand to use right now.
>>
>>51508483
Guess it's the other way around for me. I'll regularly switch between FF nightly (because FOSS etc) and Chromium, and FF starts feeling sluggish and just slower sooner or later.
>>
>>51508196
It is made by the old developers who even after decades and abandoning Presto Engine haven't open sourced it yet. What else did you expect?
They say they won't open source it because they only care about open standards.
>>
>>51508097
Iridium is also a botnet, for some kraut company

Yea that would be a good point if it wasn't for the rest of my post which you ignored

For example, it will never get e10s which will make it absolute bottom tier security wise when memefox finally gets around to implementing it in the stable version

The dev has said so

It would be impossible considering it's based on an old version of memefox which he has then customised. He would have to redo a lot of the browser to include it

This is why you shouldn't use a browser made a single person. There is no way they can keep up with large dev teams

Given the choice between these two, obviously chromium is a more realistic solution. Still, palemoon is the only real choice for webbrowsing in 2015.
>>
>>51510917
I'd like to point out one thing if I may, the whole Firefox=SJW rant that you see, is only a half truth. Google is every bit the den of blue hairs and homosexes. There is no escaping it. The botnet however, is possible to escape.
>>
>>51507978
Inox. It's an Arch exclusive though. It's constantly updated and I've been using it for a long time.
