Anandtech confirmed shills.

>From a performance perspective then the R9 380X is not a very exciting card. After 3 releases of the fully enabled Tahiti GPU – Radeon 7970, 7970 GHz Edition, and R9 280X – the architectural and clockspeed similarities of R9 380X mean that it’s essentially a fourth revision of this product. Which is to say that you’re looking at performance a percent or two better than the 7970, well-tread territory at this point. In a sense then the R9 380X is a de-facto $229 7970, with an extra 1GB of memory.

This is a known fact dude. They've been sponsored by Intel even before Anand left.

What's even funnier is that this article (http://www.anandtech.com/show/9793/best-cpus) made absolutely no mention of the 4690k or 6600k anywhere. Both of these chips are the bread and butter for $700 ~ $1000 mainstream PC builds.
>>
Why would anyone get a 380x when a 280x can be found for far less nowadays and outperforms it?
>>
>>51501257
They were pretty subtle about it, constantly comparing the 380x to the 7970.
It's like they're implying you only get new products if you buy nvidia.

>pitting a i5 6500 against a 7870
Jesus Christ...
>>
>>51501292

because it's true - GCN is 5 years old now, time to bring something new or get the fuck out of this industry AMD. i hope one day we'll see an actually competent competitor to nvidia, at least the jewry can sort of be avoided thanks to the constant refurb deals on nvidia's gpus through b-stock and the like.
>>
What is a good source for non biased AMD centric reviews?
>>
>>51501321
AMD holding on to an architecture for this long has advantages though, such as better driver support for all GPUs.
I've seen the 970 edge out a 780 ti,
>>
>>51501342
YouTube.
Just type in "r9 390 gta v 1080p" and watch a regular dildo playing it.
>>
>>51501360
>such as better driver support for all GPUs.

AMD's drivers aren't improving, the rebrands just got OCed. They still have terrible DX11 overhead that AMD refuses to fix because it makes DX12 numbers look better.

>I've seen the 970 edge out a 780 ti,

the 970 is two architectures ahead of the 780ti, so that's not really unbelievable. we never got maxwell v1 because AMD refuses to even attempt to compete.

>a reviewer isn't praising muh graphic card
>BIAASSSSEDDD!!!!!

you do realize how foolish you sound, right? Like literally kill yourself, okay.

>when a 280x can be found for far less nowadays and outperforms it?
but it literally doesn't
>>
>>51501398
>AMD's drivers aren't improving,
Then how did their new drivers improve?
the literally rewrote the gui config shit in qt instead of .net as an example
>>
>>51501398
>the 970 is two architectures ahead of the 780ti
Citation needed

>AMD's drivers aren't improving
The rebadged and refreshed GPUs may be overclocked, but AMD drivers are definitely improving.

Please read the review linked in the op.

So youtubers are the best source for reviews?
>>
>>51501491
>Then how did their new drivers improve?
>the literally rewrote the gui config shit in qt instead of .net as an example

CCC =/= drivers

until the DX11 overhead issue is fixed it's really pointless to bother with AMD. even their shitty rebrands would smoke NVIDIA if they got their heads out of their asses.
>>
>>51501498
That's my opinion.
The good ones will include an fps counter, and either list their system specs or show it during the recording via gpuz and cpuz. Best part is you can check old GPUs on new games.
Like gtx 260 battlefield 4.
>>
>>51501498

fuck no. if anything they're the most susceptible to bias, just watch any linus shill tip video to see an example of this in action
>>
>>51501360
>I've seen the 970 edge out a 780 ti,

Maybe in gayming (by single digits).

But the 780 ti is the holy grail of rendering. It almost has many CUDA processors as the Geforce Titan X, for a fraction of the price.
>>
>>51501454
He's literally telling straight lies about the GPU, it's not a Tahiti revision, it's the second newest AMD chip, it's newer than Hawaii
>>51501495
>Citation needed
They like to say there's two versions of Maxwell, Maxwellv1 used in the 750's, and v2 used in the rest of the line
>>
>>51501627
>it's not a Tahiti revision,

it's worse than tahiti. it performs the same despite having 700m more transistors and the same clocks. on top of that they STILL gimped tonga's memory bus - which is supposed to be 384 bits wide. wtf AMD?
>>
>>51501689
It barely suffers from the reduced memory bus, there's a lot of improvements regarding texture compression, also they reduced power consumption quite a bit
>>
>>51501627
>They like to say there's two versions of Maxwell,

they're two completely different architectures, nvidia just called them both maxwell because they never released the original maxwell lineup

>From a performance perspective
Learn to read. Anand's is correct: From a performance perspective, the 380X is very similar to the 280X which is very similar to the 7970GE/7970GE.

>>51501689
>it's worse than tahiti
It is better. Same performance, same price, lower power/temps/noise.
>>
>>51501741
It's very similar from a performance standpoint, but not a Tahiti revision
>>
>>51501741
>It is better. Same performance, same price, lower power/temps/noise.

it performs worse clock for clock

>muh power consumption

what a worthless metric to use, to get an actual performance improvement compared to a 5 year old GPU you need to OC, which will turn any GCN GPU into a nuclear reactor
>>
>>51501773
>lower power consumption
It's working for nvidia.

Also, there's the extra 1gb vram, and less energy consumption for same performance means less heat. Which means smaller cooler and smaller card.

I'd say those are all decent improvements. The 390 is definitely a big card, making a lot of people with smaller cases choose the 970 instead.
>>
>>51501155
Anandshit a shit
>>
The 28nm meme is still going on? LOL
I thought it would've moved on 2 years ago
>>
780ti was simply the last great card
everything else has been shit, it is now going to be 2016 and 28nm is still being used
>>
>>51503527
Isn't 14nm next year though?
>>
>>51501155
Wait what I thought the 380X was Tonga?
>>
>>51504045
It is.
380x is full tonga but anandtech went crazy shill on the review.
>>
>>51503776
apparently, but I won't trust them
>>
So it's a card around the same price point as a 4 year old card with better performance in some areas? Cool not like I can find 7970 that anymore that the bit miners didnt fuck,oh wait...
