He has to get the IBM 5100 first. Unless he already has it?

He will save us. Last i heard of him was he went to the 70s in 2002 or something.

>An Italian TV program (Voyager – Ai confini della conoscenza) aired an investigation of the John Titor story on May 19, 2008. Mike Lynch, the private detective hired to investigate, found that there were no registry traces, even far in the past, of any John Titor or Titor family. He discovered that there was a for-profit company that was called the John Titor Foundation, formed on September 16, 2003. It had no office, and it only had a rented post box in Kissimmee. No tapes, recordings, or evidence of Titor were found, and only Larry Haber, the CEO of the John Titor Foundation and an entertainment lawyer in Celebration, Florida, confirmed his existence. Lynch's conclusion was that John Titor may be[clarification needed] John Rick Haber, a computer expert who is Larry Haber's brother.[32][verification needed]

Haven't heard much about him recently. Although there was an interview done recently with the guy who maintains an archive wehsite of all of Titor's posts done in the last year or so. Was actually pretty interesting.

Not only is bending a laser physically impossible, Titor claimed it was because of the graviatation field generate by his time machine. If that was the case, then all the light in the machine would be distorted, not just he light from the laser pen.
>>
>>51500674
Ignoring the time travel nonsense, isnt it actually bendable like all light? Gravity bends light no? Please educate me, I always thought lasers were sort of high energy light.
>>
It's already been solved. There's nothing to worry about, even if you're a hipster who uses OpenBSD. Perhaps especially so.
>>
>>51500705
You would need tremendous amounts of gravity in order to even bend light just a little bit. Its possible to do, but titors tiny dinky little machine would no way be capable of doing it.
>>
>>51500733
Yeah thats what I meant, theorically it is possible but impossible for anything except a black hole. Just asked because you said it was physically impossible.

Nothing bends light rays, idiot.
Not black holes, not glass, nothing.

The secret of relativity is that the light rays are actually travelling in a straight line and it is space itself that is warped. In glass and such light is travelling in a straight line it just stops at electrons then gets reemitted almost instantly, travelling in a straight line from place to place.

>light is travelling in a straight line

you can bend a stream of water with a magnet, who's to say you can't bend light in the same way without some external influence?

photons are just another particle of matter after all.
>>
>>51501888
>photons are just another particle of matter after all.
Except they aren't.
If you want to try and prove that light actually can bend then you'd have to reinvent the theory of relativity to make that fit.

It's like us having 32 digits to count the date, what happens when you hit 99999999999999999999999999999999?

He´s right, the reason light itself can´t be bent is photons are massless and thus unaffected by gravity, but spacetime itself is affected by gravity so it "bends" with it.

>>51503163
Steins;gate, Anime about time traveling and a lot of mindfucking.

>>
Light is bend by gravity because photons have mass. Acourding to the equation E=mc^2, energy is mass and so light has because of its energy some mass. Although it doesn't have rest mass, if you stop them they disappear.

The time space continuum is only bend near to the center of the black hole. Even stars bend light but not the space time continuum.
>>
>>51503291
>confirmed for not knowing anything about general relativity
Photons don't have mass but they do have momentum, what you've written down is the equation for the energy at rest, which photons don't have.

Everything with mass/energy bends spacetime, that includes the earth the stars and blackholes. There is no other force of gravity than the one induced by the bends in spacetime.
>>
>>51501128
Senpai if you don't know your phyisics and only came to this board because of your Vidya cards please shut up if you don't want to be seen as a retard.
>>
>>51501390
>what is gravitational lensing
>>
>>51503291
You are fucking clueless

All mass bends time and space. If you're in a near vacuum with no gravitational field due to another body close to you (theoretically impossible since gravity's range is infinite) time will pass slower at the surface of your skin than it will 3 meters away from you. A negligible difference, but it's there. Time passes slower on the surface of the Earth than it does at geostationary orbit altitude, which causes clock synchronization problems between earthly clocks and satellite clocks and it was once of the challenges when implementing GPS technology.
>>
>ITT: I don't understand anything I'll just pretend to look smart.

>>51503665

>>
>>51503716

>>
>>51503291
E = mc^2 + pc

Momentum being p.
Light is massless but still has energy.
>>
>>51503730
>Light is massless
Light has inertial mass but not rest mass.
>>
>>51503728
