>>

Next question.

I like Texmaker.
>>
>>51484270
Vaporware.
>>
>>51484400
That's what i'm using at the moment, but i was wondering if there was something better.
I guess i'll keep using texmaker then.
>>
>>51484415
you should look up what "vaporware" means

purism is for zealots. be a zealot if you want, but keep it to yourself.
>>
>>51484438
Don't take my word for it, I literally just chose it at first glance of something that worked and just haven't shopped around for others since it does what I need it to do with no hiccups.

>The fervor or tireless devotion for a person, cause, or ideal and determination in its furtherance; diligent enthusiasm; powerful interest.
I've never understood why/how this was supposed to be an insult.
I am indeed full of zeal for free software.

The rejection of nonfree software has nothing to do with purity either - It's just the only way one today can attempt to actually be human.
In a computationally centric society, when you don't have control over your computing whoever does has control over you.
Relinquishing this freedom is insanely radical and crazy - You are not walking the middle ground, I am.

What happened to you /g/, you used to be cool.

Or just pdflatex.

He's talking about free as in speech, not free as in beer.

although you can patch ST to think it's registered. various updates break it, but I think the latest update has a "crack" for it, and fortunately the developers update so fucking rarely that you never have to deal with losing out on new features (although you can also set it to not check for new updates).

Emacs. Higher learning curve but it pays off
>>
>>51484219
/g/ipsters will hate me for saying this because it's easy to use but LyX is the best.

I used to do all my TeX just in vim and then manually compile the pdf. Now I use Gummi. It's a simple two panel UI that shows a preview on the right. I never used a "big" IDE style editor so if you're looking for a lot of features Gummi may not be for you.
>>
>>51484219
Vim

cat heredocs

emacs/spacemacs + preferred latex packages

>>51484219
TexStudio. It's slightly better than TexMaker, which would still be a pretty good choice.
>>
>>51486241
I like Gummi, but it's really basic, still buggy and apparently no longer developed

vim + pdflatex on linux
miktex when im forced to use winblows
>>
>>51487497
also vim + vimtex is pretty good
>>
>>51484219
I use texmaker. It makes Latex less atrocious and given how thoroughly shit Latex is, every little bit helps.
>>
>>51489278
I used to really loathe latex but honestly I think Sublime Text and LatexTools (the plugin) together make the whole thing rather nice. I get really comprehensive completion, compiling is extremely simple (just super+b), and you can tweak all sorts of settings (like seeking to the line you're editing upon compilation, which is great if you're making an edit and want to see how it looks "on paper").

Maybe this works for me because I do a lot of work in sublime text already, so lots of shortcuts and things make sense to me in this environment.
