I rooted my xperia by running Towelroot. It's an apk you install on your phone and it roots your phone.
The only thing you have to do afterwards is install superSU
The DRM (TA partition in sony devices) got deleted when I unlocked the bootloader. Lucky for me, there was a way to back it up if I ever wanted to go back to pure stock.
