What was the web like in early 2000's?
The letters XXX were everywhere.
People were a lot nicer. Maybe not 100% NICE, but they were more respectful.
No kids shitting up every site and forum.
It was a collection of small isolated communities.
There was no one single social network.
People still knew what netiquitte means.
People still used Altavista and Yahoo.
The Internet was still a tool, rather than a thing in itself.
Linux was shit, people in the industry mostly used FreeBSD.
3D graphics acceleration was still a novelty.

probably the biggest change from the 2000's. Everything was slow. You could read take the time to read a book while you downloaded a 20s porn clip over the next 30mins. Today everything is now or sooner. I want new stuff now. I need more content now. I need more uplikes, more selfies, more pats on the back from my echo chamber. I need I want I will get it all NOW. 2000's internet was a video poker machine at the bar, today's internet is somewhere between mecca and the las vegas strip.
2006-7 was the beginning of the end.
I'm not sure when I lost track of what was happening. Somewhere around 2013.
