Also, general browser thread

Pale moon plays YouTube like shit and no 60fps
>>
Try Fifth
>>
Firefox, Chrome and Edge are the only browsers that matter. Get over it.
>>
Debian has Iceweasel. Other distros can use GNU IceCat.
>>
>>51474537
you have to make choices between a same browser or forced DRM crap to play placebo 60 fps
>>
>>51475353

>>
>>51474300
Don't fall for /g/ memes, Firefox and Chrome are still the best browsers available. Pick one that fits your interests the best.
>>

/thread
Still no greasemonkey support though and I'm to stupid to do it myself.
>>
>>51475072
Iceweasel is a rebranded Firefox so Debian can deploy it with modifications. OP wants an alternative to Firefox
>>
>>51475425
As is GNU IceCat, yet modifications are of course what makes it different from Firefox.
>>
is there any good FOSS alternative to firefox that has support for extensions like stylish and greasemonkey?
>>
I use waterfox
>>
>>51475486
pale moon
>>
>>51475486
Again, GNU IceCat.

What's the deference between chrome and chromium

chrome has extra stuff that is closed sourced

It's spelled differently. Are you blind?
>>

OP here,
I guess i'm going to stick to these =)
>>
>>51475593

Chromium has no flash or h.264 support making it useless for anything other than webms

What's the problem, afraid of the future? I was a dedicated Firefox user since beta. As it stands FF is simply not keeping up with the rest of the browsing world. I've been much happier with the Vivaldi experience. Micromanaging a browser is a really shitty user experience and I'm glad to be away from it.

This is very ironic.

IT'S ONLY BROWSER WITH FLASH SUPPORT ON LINUX

Objectively the best Chromium based browser. It looks classy, available on all the platforms, with synchronized data, and Opera Turbo is excellent to speed up pages.

Vuvaldi looks great but runs like shit on my old ass PC.

Future is going to have to wait a little bit

That a lie, you can install Flash on Linux separately. But don't do that. In fact, don't use Flash at all http://occupyflash.org/
>>
>>51476299
Is Opera actually good or is this just another meme?
>>
>>51476327
please tell me how to install NEWEST VERSION, becouse on linux i got only shity buggy old version. And google had made work around.
>. In fact, don't use Flash at all
Stalmanist are the worst thing that happend in linux
>>
>>51476247
Not him but yes, all chrome addons.
Also, f2 to bring up a multi-function text field is GOAT, especially when combined with the ability to set nicknames to bookmarks to recall them quickly.
E.g. I nicknamed my startpage 12, so pressing in sequence f2 1 2 brings me to it. It's great.
Even better than the "ctrl + number" to recall the correspective speed dial entry in Opera. The real Opera, I mean.

>>51476318
Same on my new-ass pc, sadly.
>>
>>51476392
I believe flash support for Linux was discontinued
>>
>>51476392
without stallman linux would be nothing but a student's proprietary toy kernel
>>
>>51476247
yup the same as chrome
>>

>please tell me how to install NEWEST VERSION

So, you're asking a person for help you just incorrectly insulted? Don't use Flash. Period. http://www.cvedetails.com/product/6761/Adobe-Flash-Player.html?vendor_id=53
>>
>>51476318
Yeah, I use a lighter browser on my Atom tablet.

>>51476406
My desktop is a few years old now and has zero issues running Vivaldi. Shouldn't run any different than Chrome.
>>
>>51476381
Try it. Is objectively better than Chrome, less customizable than Firefox and Vivaldi, but it has some extra features that make it stand on its own. Also the Android version is pretty good too.
>>
>>51476441
Do you really thing that fighting with codecs, drm, hdcp, drivers all that fucking bullshit that happens to be not opensource is make linux greate?
For fuck sake i want easy simple good drivers and properaty software and i don't want to search for repos, use .run . I want it all nicely include on kerenel and gues what 98% of non linux users what that too and they are wainting for it. linux for desktops needs it
>>
>>51476527
Dunno, for me it's very laggish in doing everything.
Ok, maybe my pc isn't that new and is a laptop, but it still has an i5, 8gb ram and an ssd, and even photoshop runs much smoother.
>>
>>51476589
I don't run into issues on a laptop with worse specs than this. The only problem is that if you start multi-tasking a lot the 4GB of RAM fills up. Not a problem on my desktop with 8GB.
>>
>>51476589

got the same issue with vivaldi and my PC is more powerful

it`s just shit and no amount of shilling will change that.
>>
>>51476660
>>51476589
If you're not running into the same issues with Chrome then something is very wrong with your setup or you just haven't tried it in a while. It's improved massively in just the few months I've been using it.
>>
Edge.
>>
>>51476699
I'm using it daily even with the lag, because I really like the interface, actually.
And no lag with chrome.

I haven't the faintest idea of why.
>>
>>51476318
Vivaldi runs like shit on all PCs because it's still in BETA.

>not add-on support

Why would anyone even waste their time downloading this meme browser?
>>
>>51477105
It supports add-ons and has for a few months. I have no issues running it on my desktop though performance wasn't fully up to par a while back.

Considering it's in beta why are you basing your opinions off of old builds? You're fully aware that it's in constant development so why make ignorant comments?
>>
>>51477189
Because the browser has been shit and still is shit. Faggots like you shilling it like it's the end all be all when Chrome and FF are obviously better just makes your shitty meme browser look even worse than it already is, you see the Operafags have fucked off already, why don't you take a hint and do the same.
>>
>>51477244
Do you actually have anything objective to say or do you only know /g/ buzzwords like shill and adding "fag" to everything?

I can't understand why people shill the Palememe so hard. What benefits does it bring (if any) to an already about:config de-botneted FF?

Yandex is a pretty good browser, too bad is still in beta, there are bugs here and there, and the development progress is pretty... obscure.
>>
>>51475593
Chromium is open source and worse than regular Chrome. A little while back there was some leftover botnet found in Chromium. Nobody actually looks through the source code so there's probably more botnet, making it useless since it lacks some Chrome functions while still sending information to Google.
>>
>>51477855

>>
>>51476420
Nope.
It is only developped with the pepper API in mind though, so it works fine in chromium-based browsers, and you need the freshplayer compatibility layer for NPAPI browsers
>>
I'm still happy with my FF 28, maxthon for secondary browser
