one of the most disappointing things about CS in my opinion is the lack of maths, and even these days it seems they arent even bothering to teach any "computer science" beyond a few sorting algorithms

CS is mostly math, but 99%of the consumer shit you'll be doing on your job will be basically dragging and dropping stuff to make GUI and none of that hard maths.
If you go towards big data, analytics and statistics however, you'll be more or less in touch with the math, still nothing too hard, just highschool level algebra and calculus
