Read access memory gentlemen. Im confused about their speeds. Iv read some things and I keep coming to mixed conclusions.
Is 1066mhz ram to slow for modern gaming?
Iv been out of the game for a while. Some things i read say that the ram speed is a moot point, and others say its important. So im buying a motherboard for $200 and it takes 1066mhz ram. Am i wasting my time buying this motherboard with such slow ram??

Your MB supports up to 2400MHz dual channel DDR3.

RAM is completely useless above 1600MHz single-channel unless you are using an AMD APU or have specialized software that can take advantage of the speeds. RAM is basically super fast storage which stores program data for your CPU to manipulate quickly.

Speeds for single channel DDR3 RAM are:

8.5 GB/s for 1066 MHz
10.6 GB/s for 1333 MHz
12.8 GB/s for 1600 MHz
14.9 GB/s for 1866 MHz

So in the end any kind of RAM is completely since you are going to be using a dedicated GPU anyway.

=0.75

(14 latency / 2000 mhz) * 100
=0.7

Lower number is best. Now you can compare RAM at the same voltage. Just find the lowest voltage.

RAM works as a series of cells that hold one of two states depending on a shifting electron deficiency. When you see timings like 10-11-11-24 you should think of those like the time it takes a librarian to pick a book off of a shelf. They have to select the section, row, the elevation, then return back with the book.

Force is the drive current required to cause an electron to shift.
Precision refers to how much or how little drift the electron has inside of the silicon channel when drifting.
Range refers to the maximum number of cells that an electron can shift during one operation while flipping bits.
