>mfw people use "apps" when referring to computer programs instead of using it only for mobile

What pisses you off /g/?
>>

Same thing, OP
>>
>>51463568
Computer programs were always called apps, even before mobile devices.
>>
>>51463568
>>51463596
applications == apps

Get a job instead of bitching about pointless semantics.

Oh nevermind then. Generally people who complain about modern vernacular are unemployed, failed neets who resent everyone.

Water.
Fucking water man, it always pisses me off.
Leaves me with absolutely no choice in the matter.
>>
>>51463568
Windows 10 calls them "apps" now, too. It sucks, but that's game over.

That google doesn't give a shit about their products
That journalists are stating that PC's are dead and mobile platforms are the future, despite missing basic shit like mouse support, not to mention actual powerful programs
That Windows 10 could be legitimately a very very good OS if they'd fuck off with the telemetry and auto downloads
That people will actually buy the iPad pro and claim it can replace their laptop
That tablets in general are a thing

never heard anyone refer to

as "app". sounds like something stupid contrived by stupid zealots.

Uber's service is accessed through the Uber app. Are you using some psychic abilities to determine that people talking about Uber and calling it an app are talking about the service?

Ugh. That makes me pause.

Yesterday I was talking to a person who asked me what Windows I used. They were listing version names like Windows Vista, 7, et cetera. At the end the also listed Ubuntu.

I give them a little slack because English is not their first language and computers are not their thing, but, that just seemed wierd.

>>51465027
While on occasion it is ambiguous whether they are reffering to the piece of software or the service in general, it sometimes is clear that they are referencing the entire service that is provided as the 'app'.

generally i just refer to the program by its name so i never really have the chance to say app

i do call web scripts apps though, since they're kind of awkward to accurately explain and they are essentially an application despite just being a front layered provided service

Worst thing is, he's only 24.

the word app came from computer programs first. From Mac. It's just short for application. Just because all your lagdroid apps are paper thin, doesn't mean that the term app means the program is watered down

Fuck you shitlord.

Applications have been shortened to "apps" since the mid 80s.

lmao, is this supposed to be an insult? whenever i hear this, i immediately know the person saying it is an SJW, so the word, and anything after can be completely disregarded

Why is that? I've never heard this before.

Fairly sure usage of "app" predates the advent of the mobile platform, what pisses me off is that the word has become sullied by it
>>
>>51468046
except nobody asks you that, and if they do they're stupider than you are, which is saying a lot.
