Opera is a great browser. The only thing people ever have to say about it is that nobody uses it. It's basically Chrome without the phoning home. Hell, it even supports Chrome extensions.
>>
I use Chrome, Firefox, and Opera.

Chrome for basic browsing and shitposting, Firefox for personal stuff, and Opera for sites I want to support without adblock.
>>
i use chrome on windows, but safari on mac is top notch
>>
Firefox if you have a not-shit computer.

For toasters I use Pale Moon, which is firefox designed for shit computers.

>integration what?
It looks like a native Windows application. On Windows 7 the tabs are rounded, uses Aero, for example. On Windows 10 it looks like that pic related.

Chrome looks out of place on Windows 8/10 and Firefox can't even use the same colors than the DE.

>looks like a typical fucking 2015 "modern" look, way too many edges, way to simple
Have you used UC Browser? How about Yandex? Other browsers may be minimalist too, may have a lot of stuff in the interface, and they look unprofessional. Yes, it looks "modern", yet it doesn't look like an unpolished Visual Studio project.

>google is the best part about the internet
I use google for my searches. I use other services for everything else, yet I'm glad to being able to select what I want. Opera allows me to do that more than Chrome.

>[Speed Dial] every browser has this. also
Yes, and yet the Speed Dial of Opera has been always the best. Firefox doesn't allow folders, Chrome is just plain unusable and slow. The extensions are lame and with bugs, or they load on top of the new tab (Firefox)

>yeah thats where you belong
>Ad-Hominem.

Laptops are very much portable and are designed to, you should try using them when you are not at home
maybe in a train, a plane, in a bar or wherever you have time, outside of your home, to do some work or write emails etc in a good environment (not a small phone screen)
or to just watch movies or play Plants vs. Zombies to pass the time

Both customized vivaldi and firefox look more consistent with my Win10
Loli Backgrounds mean you have no idea what professional looking means.
If it's not the only one not shoving Google down your throat, then it's not a point for Opera only.
I did my custom hompage in literally 2 hours and I have no clue about programming.
Also, Vivaldi speed dial is on par with Opera, if not better because you have actual desktop screenshot in the tab instead of the retarded icon. Expecially useful when in a speed dial folder you have more bookmarks from the same site.

But really. I still use Opera from time to time, but they really gimped it and removing all the customizability was the biggest crime of the developers.

Vivaldi looks great. Firefox doesn't, look at these gradients. You should try an Edge Stylish.

I can't see the co-relation. It seems you are just trying to use one, unrelated thing to pretend to have more credibility than me.

Do you really want to defend your arguments with stupid shit like this?

>I did my custom hompage in literally 2 hours and I have no clue about programming.
They probably we have different expectations for our new tab pages. I want visual, dynamic content, easy accessible by 1 or two clicks, that it should be accessible on my phone and doesn't cause redundancy with my bookmarks.

>Also, Vivaldi speed dial is on par with Opera, if not better because you have actual desktop screenshot in the tab instead of the retarded icon.
Opera does this too, is just that you can choose if you like icons or thumbnails. Personally, I prefer icons, easy to identify, specially if there are many, just what icons are made for.

>Expecially useful when in a speed dial folder you have more bookmarks from the same site.
Agreed.

>they really gimped it and removing all the customizability was the biggest crime of the developers.
Yeah, I understand you, and I will probably look at Vivaldi once a mobile version is made or has a substitute for Turbo, which, are two big features that Opera still has.

While extension signing will not be enforced until Firefox 42, the code has shipped with Firefox 40, allowing users to see if installed extensions have been validated by Mozilla. Users of Firefox Developer Edition will have noticed that unsigned add-ons were blocked beginning on August 14.

The full schedule for add-on signing is currently as follows:

Firefox 40: Users will see a warning in the add-ons manager about unsigned extensions, but all extensions will continue to work.
Firefox 41: Unsigned extensions will be disabled by default, and Firefox will have a preference (xpinstall.signatures.required) that allows signature enforcement to be turned off.
Firefox 42 and beyond:
The Beta and Release versions of Firefox based on 42 and above (Beta 42 will be released at the same time as Firefox 41) will remove the preference that allows unsigned extensions to be installed, and will disable and/or prevent the installation of unsigned extensions.
The Nightly and Developer Editions of Firefox based on 42 and above will retain the preference to disable signing enforcement, allowing the development and/or use of unsigned add-ons in those versions. Unbranded versions of Firefox based on releases will also be made available for developers, and are expected to be in place for Firefox 42 for release (and potentially beta).

Someone posted this into another thread, but I think it belong here and I fully agree:

OT
In the good old days of browser companies making browsers for the users (Opera up to 12.x) you were able to configure EVERYTHING per web address
http://help.opera.com/Windows/12.10/en/sitepreferences.html
localstorage, separate widget localstorage, separate userjs storage, Web SQL - you could limit/disable/define everything with fine granularity(disabled, quota, popup if quota exceeded) globally and per domain.
opera:config#PersistentStorage
Can you imagine something as crazy as letting user decide which sites are allowed to run Javascript? use localstorage? leave permanent cookies? use plugins? or something as weird as defining custom useragent string per website? All possible in Old Opera, No other browser will let you do that now afaik.
Today? Today you get Firefox forcing Pocket, Google serving Voice control binary blob, and all around people coming up with things that cant be fine tuned at the user level like webRTC. We are slowly moving to a point (wtf webassembly) to a point we will lose any control over whats flowing down the wire from the server and runs on our computers.

is palemoon actually a decent browser or just a meme?
>>
>>51473080
a meme.
the problem with Firefox isn't anything superficial. not the interface, not added or removed features. the problems are with the underlying engine, Gecko. I don't know whether it got worse, or WebKit/Blink simply surpassed it, but when you use the two side by side, Firefox is just painful to use. It's terribly unoptimised, for both Windows and Android. Switching to Beta, Nightly, Dev, Pale Moon, Waterfox, Cyberfox... none of these will make any real difference, because the underlying engine is the same. What's wrong with Firefox will carry over to any other build or fork.

Either Mozilla has to markedly and rapidly improve Gecko, or hurry up and complete its successor, Servo, or just give up and join the Blink club... or stay unusable and lose its remaining market share.

HTML is a separate entity. And not everything in HTML 5 is really all that useful beyond "hey did you know you can do this" Unless some amazing new website that most of the planet uses springs us and uses something only chome can use, it won't be a big deal.

If that does happen, the other browsers will push out an update that fixes those standards.
>>
>>51474604
Have you tried Opera? The android version of Opera is objectively better than its Chrome counterpart. Plus Opera Turbo.

Btw, is there a Chromium for Android?

i keep switching between safari and chrome on os x. i have an iphone so safari with icloud sync is kinda nice though handoff also works with chrome + mobile safari. safari looks great and has some great things going with the ux but it's kinda behind on the html5 standards, so there's no webm or clipboard support and you can't even download from mega. it just feels stupid to use safari most of the time and then switch chrome when some site doesn't work, even though there's a neat "open page with" menu for that

Clearly whoever made that never actually used it. The truth is that uzbl:

- is lightweight as fuck
- uses webkit, so renders everything fine
- is designed around moded keyboard commands, like vi

The weakness of it is that it doesn't accommodate mouse controls very well.

Firefox is the best. Its the only one that gives a shit about your privacy and your control as a user and for this I'd put up with it being a little bit slower than whatever botnet shit is out there.

I've never found Firefox to be "slow". Most of the time, it is what the user adds to it. Yeah, if you have a fuckload of extensions, userscripts and styles for every page etc... that have a huge burden and you're loading 50 tabs etc... then yeah, tis going to be a bit slower than if you didn't have those features. Many people who complained of Firefox being "slow" were amazed when I told them to save/backup the important stuff and reinstall Firefox, using it with only a bare minimum of addons (ie uBlock Origin, HTTPS Everywhere and a few others) etc.. suddenly all their complaints about 'slowness' went away.
>>
>>51479066
>>51479184
>>51479332
>>51481029
According to the CSS source the eyebrow has left, right, and top borders, but in Blink, the left and right borders somehow disappear when the border-radius property is added. Clearly Blink is wrong and the other browsers are correct.
>>
>>51484480
>Its the only one that gives a shit about your privacy
Yandex and Opera does the same.

>botnet.
Oh yeah... one of you... no, open source =/= privacy.

>Most of the time, it is what the user adds to it.
The biggest issue is the lag it occurs when a tab is loading a heavy javascript page. Also, yes, more extensions makes Firefox slower, but this doesn't happen with other browsers with the same amount of extensions.

>any people who complained of Firefox being "slow" were amazed when I told them to save/backup the important stuff and reinstall Firefox, using it with only a bare minimum of addons (ie uBlock Origin, HTTPS Everywhere and a few others) etc.. suddenly all their complaints about 'slowness' went away.
So, Firefox has a flaw, and yet you think isn't an issue. To me, that only shows how bad polished is a software. No, it's not ok for the users to have to do what you suggest.

Hey, I like Firefox, there are some neat stuff with it, like how Gecko renders the pages and scrolls them. But it has a lot of flaws that should be pointed and fixed.

Back to the what is best. Chrome is better overall but it's Skynet so nobody on /g/ is going to actually tell you to use it. Firefox is a resource hog so you have better have a lot of memory in whatever you choose to run it in. You can basically choose between Chromium [chrome without the botnet] or Firefox. There are others but it comes down to these two.
