>Just a normal day on the internet
>Suddenly someone on IRC / Chat asks you for help
>Sends url which looks legitimate
>Links actually internal hacked government website
>Visited with your IP unmasked
Weeks pass:
>You wake up getting pulled out of bed by the FBI
>They take all your computers, laptops, phones and hard drives
>20TB of data, all your work.. Poof gone
>Get detained but get released after a few hours because they believe your story
>Don't hear from police for months about your data and computers
>After about one year get your data back
>One drive broken, unrecoverable and another drive with unknown data written to it
This shit is what gives me nightmares
(And it actually happened to someone, lost the article tho)

Something like that happend to SWIM, but he never got the hard drive back, but to be fair, he did download cp

downloading cp is illegal, anon.
and morally reprehensible.
Just reminded me of an old trick in which some US gov site had a shortening service that only worked for other .gov domains and someone created short link that searched "how to kill the president" on cia.gov then spread it around /b/ until the mods blacklisted the URL. fucking lol.
It's very unlikely that something like this would happen to me, but it still makes me consider proper off-site backups.

fuck it where did u get 10tb disk ?
>>51461958
>visit /b/
