Im getting a new labtop rig that would be perfect for gaming other than graphics card, any thoughts about using an external like this?
Also the graphics card i plan to use is from my desktop that is on its last leg other than graphics card. GTX-970 also have a power supply for the dock

The problem with this thing is you have to uscrew the bottom of your laptop to plug it into the wifi card spot.
It's a pain in the ass and when it's all set up you might as well be using a desktop.

The consensus is that it's probably a waste of time and might fuck up your laptop if you're not careful, and it would just be easier to build a PC or even buy a cheap/refurbished prebuilt.

eGPU user here, works pretty well.
Using the EXP GDC Beast through expresscard on my T520 with a 7950.
When using AMD you pretty much need an external display, and even with nvidia I highly recommend it.
