I have a HP laptop for the past 3 years which I only purchased when my desktop of 7 years died on me. I have an old smartphone that has some decent apps and lets me make calls.
Brands are clever, they first artificially create demand for something through social engineering and movies where they passively advertise their shit. Most people don't need such fancy gadgets and smartphones as they never utilize them to their fullest.
So much computing and processing power is wasted on shenanigans just to read facebook and twitter feeds.

I don't pick software based on feature count. I'll tell you some of what I like about Safari, though: Native UI, native notifications, native text rendering, WebKit-based, tab sharing with Mobile Safari, cool Apple polish like tab name disambiguation.
And for some things I don't like: dev tools lack vs. Chrome's, lack of WebM support. Neither is a deal-breaker, though, and I do keep Chrome around for when I really need either.

Most of our team uses Chrome, so we're targeting WebKit anyway. Safari-specific quirks are few and far between, and we do resolve issues as they're reported (or as I see them when I use Safari).
Our site works fine in Safari 99.5% of the time, yet we see very little traffic from desktop Safari, so it's not worth allocating precious dev time for up front.
