the cx300 is actually rather solid, its base is stupidly overdone but if you can find it for 25 which you can depending on where you are it's great value, some of the best tbf. the bass is too much though; software filters actually improve the quality if you lower it which should say enough. rest is solid, better than what you expect

Well, you need to find the damage first.
If its in the cable, you'll probably cut the cable where it's damaged, remove insulation, splice and solder or splice otherwise, put heat shrink tube back in place of the insulation, done. Simple.
