ah, the real reason why spinning rust will have to go away at some point: every time capacity doubles, any full disk transfer or wipe takes ~40% longer.

4-6 TB drives already take a quarter to half day to do anything, and the having to wait over a full day for 20 TB drives to get formatted, imaged, or scanned just seems maddening.
