After carefully checking all the phones which came out in 2015, I came to the conclusion I'll get a One M8, basically a 2014 phone. :^)

There's basically no good, durable, phone that you can buy for 500 bucks out there. So I'll get an older and cheaper flagship (still new, sealed, etc) until something really good comes up.

The M8 has the nice metal design, which makes it more resistant than Samsung's glass-coated flagships.

It has an LCD display so it won't get burn in like Samshit.

CPU and RAM are still OK for my casual browsing and app usage. I'm not interested in gaming on it.

It does have those awesome front stereo Boom speakers.

Camera is not totally unusable, but then I'm no Instagram/Facebook fag.

I think it has an IR blaster.

Battery is neither great nor bad, from what I could gather.

Software is also acceptable.

And I can get all that for 300 and a few tens of bucks.

Plus it's not made in China. :^)

Should be an acceptable bridge phone for until producers actually get their shit together to come out with a decent phone.
>>
Where is Marques Brownlee on that youtuber list? I think he's pretty cool. Not too biased. One of the few blacks I like.

I would love a note 5, but I care a good bit about the SD slot. Currently I have an SD card with around 45 gigs of porn that I keep on my phone (no pc). The LG V10 looks amazing though. I'm thinking of upgrading to that soon

This is the only legitimate reason to not get a phone without an mSD card. If you have no computer access, having an mSD card lets you use your phone for all your media consumption, which when you dont have any other options, at least works.

That being said, I can't wait for the GearVR on my Note5, jerking off to VR porn on muh phone.

Any reason to get the 6P over a Nexus 6 that's worth the $300+ difference?

There's a new in box Nexus 6 on my local craigslist for $300 and several used for $250ish. Glass screen protector and a new back and those might as well be new anyway.

> Nexus 6
I don't want to take risks with AMOLED displays. I was thinking of getting a Note4 or even 5, but from what I'm reading on the internet the burn in is unavoidable, because of the organic components of the diodes.
And since I want to get a phone I could use for at least one year, maybe 2, throwing 5-600 dollars on an amoled flagship and then getting diodes burn in would be kinda retarded.

>moto X pure
The 32 GB model with black leather back kinda goes above 500 dollars, if import taxes are taken into account (I'm in Europe). Not a big fan of the design either. Interesting phone, though, I give you that.

Every review I had read online, and personal testimony on forums say they get 4-5 hours SOT with the LGV10. No other anons are complaining about it.

If enough say it's shit, of course it will be removed. It won't be from one anon disagreeing, but it's good that you are giving your experience.

There's nothing wrong with that and it's good to know.

What apps are you running? Anything out of the norm? Which carrier? I had heard that sometimes phone get less battery depending on the carrier.

>>
>>51421534
I haven't bought the M8 yet, so I'm not just blogging about it here.

I was blogging, though, about the fact that there literally is no great phone on the market for 500 bucks this year. They all have some flaw which makes it unjustified to pay anything more than 300$ for any of them.

Literally all of them. I've analysed each and every phone from the major producers. Except the iPhone which doesn't have those issues, but I just fucking hate the toy design and the locked OS.
>>

Yeah, I'm aware that Amoleds look awesome. But I've also heard quite a few people complaining about the burn in, even after a few months.

You should compare your old Amoled phones with new versions of it (if you can find some). If the display got worse, you will notice a yellow bias in the colours and/or less brightness.

>810 meme
The iPhones got noticeably hotter when running updates vs my 6p running updates. The 6p was barely warm at all and does everything I need it to do incredibly fast. Tbh the iPhone animations are slow and make it feel like it was designed for children.

I haven't missed these features from my s4 yet, paid an extra $50 for the 64gb 6p. They aren't necessary anymore, not worth getting autistic about.

This is implying other smartphones are not botnet as well. At least Google knows how to use your info better than the rest, the Google ecosystem makes everything so much easier and effortless than siri and other bullshit assistants. Google's voice recognition is unmatched as well. I was talking to someone at work about a task that we needed to create a reminder for, I checked my phone and Google was already suggesting that I create a reminder.

If you live in a relatively cold place or you dont really put your brightness to max with the screen on 24/7 you dont need to worry about AMOLED burn in

I live in California. It's bright out when driving, so I have to wear sunglasses. When I wear sunglasses, I have to put the brightness on max to see the screen in my car. Only did this for a few hours when making a long drive to visit some friends. That was all it took to burn in the screen. Meanwhile I used my HTC One M7 for two years on max brightness and never had a single problem. God, I miss that phone.

I'm still on a contract but they really don't care what phone I get, which is unbelievable because it was a special deal exclusively for the edge.

Anyway what phone should I spend the 800 dollary doos on? I can't save them because I have to buy the phone first, bring in proof of purchase, and any remaining money doesn't roll over, I just lose it.

I want something easy to root with a removable battery and expandable storage. The Edge was none of those. Something durable but not toughbook autistic looking.

So I've been stuck with a Cosmos Slider or whatever it is for a few years now. I'm moved into my own apartment, and I'm beginning to see how out-of-date this phone really is - won't properly group message, no front-facing camera, chugs when opening messages, and all the fun apps (snapchat) aren't working correctly anymore.

So I need a new one. No, I do NOT want one of the newest iPhones or Galaxies because I'm not willing to bust out over $500. However, I do need something newer.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for a flat comparison of money spent vs. functionality. My friend told me the Galaxy S3 is still pretty good for what I'm talking about, but I wanted to come here and ask the experts.

Looking to spend up to $300 for this new phone.

Well I'll tell you what I didn't expect: one of only 2 phones released in 2015 with a removable battery to be unfortunately crippled by a complete lack of developer activity or LG giving a fuck about their customer.

Seriously, I bought the phone a while back when it was the cream of the crop (only surpassed by the V10 now which is way more expensive) despite having no bootloader unlock or ROMs. I said to myself "I can live with that for a while, surely bootloader unlock will come, G3 is really popular on XDA, surely it will come I just have to wait"

I fucking fell for the meme /g/. I fell so hard. Fuck LG those cunts, they talk about how they "listened" to their customers and will now support official bootloader unlocking, but they don't even release it for more than 2 models and now have basically told everyone to fuck off.

you must think it's 2012 or something.

AMOLED burn in is only an issue if you're retarded and leave your phone on 100% brightness for more than 45 minutes.

If you keep brightness at auto levels or if you manually keep it lower, you will likely never even see burn in during 2-3 years of use.

There are plenty of Note3 owners who still have Note3s with minmal or almost no burn in whatsoever. And the note4 and 5 are even better with burn in.

>You want a Moto G.

It's on the list for sure. It's just that I have a Moto E now, and I had a Moto G first gen previously before I lost it. I'm just torn, between the 2nd gen and 3rd gen G. As far as I can tell, the only improvement in the 3rd gen is a better camera, which is nice, but at this point, given what people are saying about various phones that are far more expensive and their shit cameras, I'm considering just carrying around my $70 Samsung DSLR to take pics when I need to instead of relying on my phone. Saving a few bucks between the 2nd and 3rd gen would be nice. The 2nd gen has 4G, which I don't currently have, which would be quite a step up.

Maybe you're right. I still wouldn't take my chances with an amoled simply because you pay more and risk more for what? More brightness and bit more RGB spectrum coverage?
It's not like you're going to use them on maximum settings, so basically once you set the phone to a dimmer setting, you are using it like an LCD.

Don't get me wrong, amoleds look awsome, but a technology which is based on organic chemical compounds is not durable.

It just feels limiting to buy a phone and use it on lower brightness just to be sure you're not gonna have issues with it.
>>
>>51425841

AMOLED is still far better than LCD even when you turn the brightness on the AMOLED down.

I'm looking at the Moto G 3rd gen and it seems its only available in the 8gig version? WTF. That's pretty shitty by today's bloated app standards. Still LCDs dont get burn ins, amoleds do. And to avoid getting them, you have to adjust how you use the device.

yes because everyone needs the same features you do in a phone. /s

get over it and buy the note4 if you think it's better for you.

I'm not arguing that it isn't a high-end phone. I'm arguing that Samsung sold out its customer base by not including atleast a microsd option and /g/ is shilling it.

Then you're doing a good job of voting with your wallet and not buying it.

However, you shouldnt be mad that OTHER people dont give a fuck about mSD cards or removable battery and are happy to buy it.

That is their choice. They are obviously okay with it or they wouldnt do it.

Oddly enough, not everyone uses their phone the same way you do.

Do any of the 2015 flagships still have a microsd slot?
>>
>>51426024
Well, I think I know why Samsung did that. They got a lot of crap from the media for being "that company which makes expensive flagships with plastic backs". So they decided to compete with the iPhone on making full metal/glass enclosures, no removable parts.

With this change they are trying to appeal more to the normie population. So, it's a new direction for the Note.
