there are many possible outcomes but two extreme scenarios:
FB becomes society 2.0 and stuff we can't quite think (yet) will be routed and ported there. Things (simple e.g., + others I can't fathom) like human resources, even some kind of education (FB universities/schools) and anything 'social' (and economical) will be mainly conducted there first, and in presence second.. Also it's prevalence shifts the overall construct of the 'internet' turning FB itself in the main 'thing' on the internet, holding every site, fora, e-tailers as we know them today under its umbrella and rendering the surface web of today as a middle layered deepweb (only outcasts and parias would even bother to search anything outside of FB). You wouldn't connect to the internet anymore, you would 'log in' to your FB (complte with it's physical cabling (network) and isp (free?). It holds everything.
[remember, i'm playing the extremes; also, it would probably only work with a google alliance of sorts... and the governments would get a freeby internet deanonimizer (unique id's) without much backlash: that was the main prupose of it, actually. Random examples are bad because i'm not very smart]

I was comtemplating the possibility of them coopting the electoral process and providing e-government tools for Direct Democracy, which wouldn't exist outside of it. They would themselves legitimize the power structures of the world, and recalcitrant governements trying to remain outside of it woul face diplomatic, social and economical antagonism.

You can get a rough idea of what a liquid contains by sending an infrared signal through it and measure the resistance of it coming back.
I can't imagine its terribly accurate, but with enough calibration and proper programing, it could be fairly efficient at detecting common drinks like soda and coffee, though it would be very difficult to account for any variables such as sugar and creamer.
