Can you guys provide feedback for this build I made? I'm trying to build a pc for gaming, running adobe shit and possibly start learning animation. Does this look good for achieving that?
>>
Good for gaymen

Your graphics card is underpowered and your psu is meh.

Get this psu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151094&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

I don't think you need an i7 for what you're doing, go with a nice i5; 4690K or 660K if you want to go skylake.

With the money you saved from going with an i5, get a better graphics card, a 970 or 390.

Also for sure drop in a 250gb SSD in there, I'd go Samsung 850 Evo or Crucial BX100.

Follow this advice and you'll have a much more well rounded and better build.
>>
>wasting more in a cpu than a gpu
>>
>>51397682
Listen to this guy. You 100% dont need that i7 spend that extra money on the GPU.

I would also like to throw in another option for the PSU. http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Continuous-Warranty-120-G1-0650-XR/dp/B00K85X2AW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1447810694&sr=8-4&keywords=evga+600w

EVGA has always treated me well
>>
>>51397745
thanks, that's probably a better psu than the one I recommended actually. psu's are my weak point when it comes to building knowledge. I actually kinda fucked up on my first build and got a cx 600, luckily it's been fine though.
>>
>>51397682
>an i5, get a better graphics card, a 970
do the world a favor and never open your mouth. please.

both of those shill products are absolute trash and both companies need to burn to the ground for releasing this faggotry.

>lying about total VRam just to dick customers into buying it
>releasing gpu drivers which FRY out of warranty cards
...
>increasing the price of the cpu by 30% just so they don't go out of their way to LOCK the multiplier.
seriously, 30% increase in price, for a MAYBE 0-5% increase in performance?
fucken sickening how someone can release gimped products and get away with it.
>>
>>51397837
oh lord. here we go. OP please ignore this guy.

While the 390 is undoubtedly a better option for the money, and Nvidia is most definitely a shady company and their 2.5 vram thing was absolute bullshit, the 970 is still a great card, and a viable option for OP.

And what cpu would you suggest? An AMD? So you'll get worse performance in a shitload of games just to make a point?
>>
>>51397837
How can you tell someone to to never open their mouth again without even posting a better alternative? the 970 is a great card even if it does only have 3.5gb of full speed vram. The i5 is also a very good and powerful cpu that will do more than OP needs.
>>
Cpu to GPu ratio is off for gaymen.

Get an i5 and a 970/980 or AMD equivalent
>>
>>51397682
>>51397745
>>51397822

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it. I guess I was so worried about making my pc future proof that I overdid the CPU.

I'll tone down to an i5 to get an 970. Is using a SDD that big of a deal? I know they're faster but is it enough to make a difference?

The PSU in the image is actually the one I'm using for my current pc. I was hoping on swapping it out.
>>
>>51398038
Your current PSU will be fine if you already have it. YES the SSD will make a HUGE difference. You're computer will boot so much faster, and applications like adobe products will open much faster. just use the SSD as the boot drive and get a WD black 7200rpm HDD or something similar for mass storage of games and media.

i need help
>>
>>51397900
>OP please ignore this guy.
why? becuase you work for intel or nvidia?
the proof is out there, tonnes of people had their GPU fried from those driver updates, and at the very least they noticed a huge decrease in performance in game.

don't even get me started with the 3.5gb of fast memory, 512mb of slow memory.
>it performs like ass in anygame that uses more than 3.5gb ingame, but hey it's a 4gb card!

AMD cpus perform just fine in all games. you're retarded if you think a few (only noticeable in benchmarks) frames are somehow not worth boycotting shitty companies promoting shitty marketing practices. in games which actually make use of MOAR cores it actually performs better.

please, educate yourself.

>>51397949
because i don't tell people what to buy, i'd rather they have an informed opinion on the products they want before purchasing.
>>
>>51398038
ssd is literally useless for anything outside of installing. which only happens once most of the time...

otherwise you wont notice any difference in moving to SSD from HDD, aside from the obvious pisspoor gigabyte to cost ratio.
>>
>>51398115
>booting 3 seconds faster is somehow amazing
>opening games will sometimes load slower, sometimes faster... again only by a few seconds

the only thing SSDs are good for is copying files, or installing programs.

my god why doesn't moot just rename this place to /shillboard/ nothing but a bunch of faggots trying to claim their shit products are somehow good when it's really negligible placebos
>>
Want to build a new pc under 300$.Going to turn current rig in to a 20tb nas media server and remove the rice from it.
Just need a cpu/gpu that can handle rendering 1080p60fps.
>>
>>51398139
change to this CPU
http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-Processor-BX80646I54690K/dp/B00KPRWB9G/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1447812566&sr=1-1&keywords=i5&pebp=1447812568709&perid=09R4REA20ERCDH0Q9SRB
Then this motherboard:

and this RAM

>>
>>51398245
and everything else is fine? thanks alot man
>>
>>51398239
>>51398169
Booting from an SSD is literally 300% faster. Applications also load faster. Its an $80 upgrade. If you have the $80 in my opinion it is worth it.
>>
>>51398169
If referring to gaming. Maybe. But photoshop uses massive tmp files so yeah an ssd will greatly improve performance not to mention the power savings. I used to leave my pc on 24-7. After getting a 250gb evo i simply hit the power button and 5 seconds later my pc is off. When i come back i hit the button and in 10 seconds later my pc is back on.

I am saving 20$ a month by turning my pc off when i leave. That's over $200 a year. Well worth rhe 70$ i payed for the ssd
>>
OP are you still here? I have something very important to tell you.

DO NOT GET THE GTX 960!
>>
>>51398240
phenom II from nearly a decade ago will even run gaymen just fine at 1080p.

but just wait a couple minutes, the fag ass intel marketuers will be here soon to shitpost their 500 dollar mobo+cpu links.

P.S phenom II+mobo is under 200 dollars.
>>
>>51398303
Yeah the rest is all good in my opinion. A lot of people here will tell you to get an AMD GPU but both are just fine.
>>
>>51398321
OP FUCKING ANSWER ME, AND I WILL DO SOMETHING, THAT WILL MAKE YOU LOVE ME.
>>
>>51398327
Dont even need to game on it.Have a windows laptop for gaming needs, literally all that is done on it is steam streaming to my linuxbox.
The media server is a Phenom II x6 1090T from about 8 years ago i think.
Just need something.Maybe mini-atx,itx.For basic video viewing and basically web browsing
>>
>>51398306
That's a great justifcation for getting a SS, specially since right now I leave my pc on at all times too. I'll go for it.

>>51398321
>>51398392
Don't worry, I'm currently looking at 970s. Just trying to figure out which series to get.
>>
>>51398392
I KEEP REFRESHING BUT I DONT LOVE YOU YET
>>
>>51398327
this i all i can come up with for lol teir.I normally have a rice budget so this is new territory

>>
>>51398038
An SSD is a huge deal. Get one, you won't regret it. And honestly, if you already have the CX, just keep it. Mine's been powering my 4460 and 280x for months with zero problems, just keep your overclocks to a minimum and you'll be good.
>>
>>51398424
idk what to tell you.
even $50 phones are capable of doing waht you ask.
>>
>>51397498
Swap the i7 for an i5-4690k and the 960 for an R9 390.
And find a refurbished Z97 motherboard.
>>
>>51398492
>>51398438

>your pc costs $20 a month to idle
lmfao where do all these people on this board live?
some other dipshit tried to claim it would cost $200 MORE by using an fx 8350 rather than intel.. LOL do you all live in Iran and are forced to use gas for electricity?
>>
>>51398644
>http://www.ebay.com/itm/291618154246
Holy shit. Maybe it's time to upgrade my 660.
>>
>>51398644
>>51397498
>nJEWia
Go AMD or go home.
>>
>>51398306
>$20 a month
Fucking niggawatt
The only difference I've seen from not having my computer on for a month to running it 24/7 was $10. Where the hell do you live?
>>
>>51398644
Thanks!
You're the best anon. I love you hard.
>>
>>51398751
No problem anon. Glad to be of help.
>>
>>51398677
Buy a killawatt outlet and actually track your energy usage before spouting disbalief. My god the ignorance of the internet
>>
My main pci-e slot in the z77-a is fucked, how much do I lose by running a r9 270x in the pci-e 2.0 @ x4 slot? According to this video which has a considerably stronger gpu

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSfifE2Domo

Not much, but I'd like to be sure or hear from other people who tried
>>
>>51399000
I keep track with my energy bills in a climate controlled apartment that uses roughly $15 less energy during the wintertime. During the month when I was going in an out of the hospital, my computer was never turned on. Literally a $10 difference between then and now adjusting for electric heating (not oil or natural gas)/air conditioning.
>>
>>51399047
Oh, and I've even added a second 980Ti since then.
>>
I'm planning on using this build with crossfire in the future:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qjZDYJ

You guys have any advice before I start buying?
>>
I5-4460+B85M or I5-4460+Z97?
>>
>>51399255
I was going to say you could go 4K with Crossfired 390s, but you've already got a monitor.
You could do with a downgrade to a 4GB 380 if you're not getting anything better than that AOC and Crossfire that.

You also don't need a 1000W PSU. A 850W should be enough for two 390s.
>>
>>51399266
>I5-4460+B85M
Or work harder for a 4690k and a Z97
>>
>>51397498
It's a shill build,
don't bother with Intel or nvida unless you go highend, you'll get better performance out of an Amd rig. Also having a great gpu is better than a having a great processor, and finally AsRock is the lowest you can go buddy, good luck when all your component's get fried a week in.
>>
>>51399329
Yeah the monitor is really just my monitor ive had for a while.

I want to go 4K when the technology gets more affordable.
>>
>>51399351
Well here is the story.

I am from mexico, everything is expensive here.

I only managed to get money for this build.

I5-4460
GB-Z97X-UD3H-BK
8GB RAM
EVGA 500B
HAF912
1TB WDD

But im missing money to buy a screen and i doubt to reuse my old trinitron CRT monitor from 2008.
>>
>>51399393
Also a 4690K is $1300 pesos more expensive than the I5-4460 ($77 USD more) and its way out my budget.
>>
>>51399387
Shieeeet, you could save a bit of money by swapping the Intel build for an AMD build. At 4K, CPU load is outmatched by GPU load, so you could buy a cheap $120 FX-8320E, an $80 990FX motherboard, and a $60-70 mid-tower case. That's just over $100 that you could spend on a 390X instead for better 4K FPS.
>>
>>51399387
>affordable
You mean when its relevent.
>>
>>51399413
I5-4460 and an H85 or B85 micro-ATX motherboard. Whatever's cheaper
>>
>>51398169
>>51398239
Samefag and you're an idiot. Take a look at this video from fucking 2010 and tell me SSDs are 'literally useless'. Keep in mind today's SSDs are five times as fast while HDDs have barely increased in speed at all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47dt-y27eYk

You're literally worse than useless.
>>
>>51399447
Sure I guess.

It really just came down to basically seeing two pricetags at the store. One said $150, the other said $600 and I was just like fuck that.
>>
>>51399472
Not saying ssds are wortless.BUt the HDD part was mostly network latency because he was rendering all those players AS he got them from the server
>>
>>51399492
It's not even future proof now.Look how long it took for bluray to be porminent. Not to mention studios will have to shoot in 4k.All the rendering production. Its just not worth it when the spec will have changed so many times by the time its common place.Or even "techie" consumer quality.
