There must be some guy here who loves having a FOTM meme to shitpost on this general. I wonder if he's actually having fun or he has passed the point of no return after which he's forced to behave like this by his autism. From the level of shitposting, I'd say the latter is more fitting to the case.

Is that even possible because beyerdynamic makes some of the worst headphones from an objective point of view.

People wouldn't buy speakers with a 9dB treble spike, would they? Yet trash like DT880 still sells.
>>
how do i learn headphones
>>
>>51394277
I disagree, although the bass could be a bit better honestly, I don't have any problem with the highs and I don't notice the scooped up mids. You can't deny that these are some comfy headphones though. They sound like my KEF 104/2s in some respects. I'm very impressed with them for the price. After eq theyre even better.

treble issues in headphones are caused by high frequency reflections off of the ears in such a small space, that should be common knowledge

as for the latter
>>
>>51394498
Speakers give you bass issues for the same reasons.

The speaker is equalized to give that response, so that doesn't prove one better than another.

The canal is fixed in all this: the ear canal has been shown to be invariant to direction. The pinna is the problem.

Looking at placement is looking at room treatment superficially. The central goal is to ensure a consistent pressurization throughout the acoustic space. Absorbers, cancellation, and placement are used. Placement is part of the problem with headphones, absorption is not practical for speakers.
>>
>>51395596

I do have a fucking bluetooth speaker. It's no good because a kitchen can get really loud.

Gas stoves working, banging cutlery around, cutting shit, the oven. It all makes noises. Headphones are the perfect solution.

And not, I can't play music at full volume, my next door neighbours have a newborn child. I have to be considerate.

I know people shit on Bose a lot, but been looking for wireless headphones recently (in the under £150 range), and I can get a 45% discount on some Bose Soundlink AE2's.

So RRP of £240 down to £132.

Any opinions if this makes them any more worth the price?

I usually like my bass but heard they're more neutral for the most part but can still hit the lows.

Usually listen to indie, EDM, R&B, pop too.

Also any idea if these will be any good for gaming use too? They come with an aux cable so soundwhoring would be a nice benefit to my CS:GO skills too.

Cheers guys.

The only Bose worth buying are the QC25, because they have a very good ANC system, but really, if you won't use them in noisy environments don't buy closed (I don't know how many hours of flight you do every year, but for those occasions I'd simply buy a very isolating IEM and call it a day).

First off, I've tried the QC25, and the ANC is kinda impressive (never had the pleasure to try one before, so maybe that's why I was impressed, nonetheless it worked quite well), and they don't sound *bad*, however even if I don't know what you can buy for 149£, I'm sure at that price point (210 euro) there are many good headphones available. I must say 210€ for an headphone that is sold at 299€ (279€ the Android version) is actually not a bad deal, but honestly if your needs don't require a good noise isolation, I'd look for something else.

Again, wireless is really a bad gimmick: it gives an apparent freedom from cables, which by any mean is just an illusion, by giving in sound quality, which is going to suffer noticeably.

If you really want wireless headphones, then go for it, but I would still not spend 190€ for those Bose even if they're at a discount. Again, 210€ for the QC25 is not a bad deal at all, I'd go for it if I needed ANC, but with no isolation requirement, I woudn't buy anything Bose, or anything closed for that matters.

Do you think the clamp force on the HD-600s causes the typical user to go on these incoherent posting sprees recommending them to literally everyone spamming endlessly that they're the best due to the lack of oxygen in their brains?

Perhaps it is their brain subconsciously gasping for fresh air and clear dynamic sound but only shilling comes out?

Just want to give my two cents about the X2. I'm no audiophile by any means so bear with my vocabulary.
I came from the K612 because I asked for neutral headphones here on /g/, but I found them anemic. It was not entertaining to listen to music from them and gunshots in games seemed weak. So I caved in and got the X2. The sound immediately sounded fuller and the bass finally had impact. At first it sounded a bit too muffled for me maybe because I transitioned from the K612 but now man... I can't go back. I love how these sound. Maybe my brain got used to it, since burn-in only results in insignificant changes, if at all.

Piston 2 or Piston 3? Guide says Piston 2 but I assume it is not updated.

I bought 2 JBL 305 speakers, while it sounds nice enough it didn't really feel worth the price.

I have it on board my computer desk so maybe the elevation is not high enough.

Would it make a bigger difference if I buy also a stand set for it and also a subwoofer?

Subwoofers are expensive because they are heavy and take lots of materials and they need a big driver and amplifier.
The best option is DIY if yo have the skill, otherwise just buy the sub designed to go with them.

Alternatively like this. Tweeter above you is still better than below. Just make sure you form a triangle with ideally the same distance between you and the speakers as the distance between the speakers themselves.
>>
>>51400108
Considering you bought studio monitors, you're probably gonna need a studio sub to go with it (for proper inputs). I've got a PreSonus Temblor T10 which is pretty good paired with 5" monitors, but expect to pay $300 or more for a decent sub. Difference is really nice and day.

Basically, I want a pair that goes around the back of the ear because I hate cable noise. Something well built with good isolation in this price point is preferred.

>>
>>51401101
you can use it in combination with a satellite high pass on the passthrough or the speakers themselves to act as a crossover when using the subwoofer as a low frequency extension
but even if it's used as a 'real' lfe channel in a multichannel setup sometimes it's useful to limit the range so the subwoofer isn't localizable when the mix includes a full range-y signal on the lfe channel, I think thx specifies a 120Hz high cut on the lfe to avoid that
>>
>>51401161
er, too technical, i cant understand. i think for the second part you wanted to ensure that the bass doesnt overpower the other frequencies yes? but for the first sentence i dont understand what the point is.
>>
>>51401232
if you have a stereo setup you want to extend with a subwoofer then the best plan is to crossover the low frequencies to the it (the same way as it's internally done in the bookshelf speaker's tweeter and woofer) to avoid 'doubling' the frequency range that's played both by the bookshelf speakers and the subwoofer.
it means there's a lowpass set to the same middle frequency for the subwoofer as the highpass is on the bookshelf speakers (if available), or the passthrough on the subwoofer completely takes care of that by cutting the low end before the audio is passed to the speakers.
