I run fallout 4 on this laptop and get an average of 35fps in medium, is it normal ? Pretty sure it could run it in high or at least medium 60fps
-Intel Core i7-4720HQ 2.60ghz 4 cores
-GTX 960m 2go
-8go RAM
its laptop.

nvm delete i didnt read the sticky sorry

Turn down shadows, distance and quality. Turn off DoF, lower Ambient Occlusion, lower grass fade distance, lower Distance object detail.
What resolution is your laptops display? If possible try dropping it to 720p.
If you can, upgrade for more ram 16GB total should help immensely. Also if your laptop has a M2 slot or a mPcie try getting an SSD in there.

Thanks for your answer man
I do have an SSD inside, display is 1920*1080
>>51392353
Absolutely not, the 960m is worse than a desktop 960 and the 960 is outdated and crappy
>>51392422
You literally forgot the most important thing, which is turning god rays to low. Biggest performance impact of any setting, since it's a GoyWorks implementation.
>>51392353
Yes you can, pretty good specs for a laptop
>>51392543
Lol I forgot about GodRays, I remember /v/ complaining about not being able to truly disable them, and the engine turning them back on unless you edit an .ini file.
steady 60 fps on high in 720p, that's good
a shame i cant run it fullHD
fuck off gaymayshit
you're the reason /g/ isn't even a shadow of its former self
>>51392353
i have g4b , i7 4710mq and gtx 765m, stable 45 fps on medium 720p, 60 fps at low 1080

Jesus that's your laptop? Good thing it's winter.
>>51392353
Lol I'm playing it on a 2.3ghz dual core i3, 6 gigs of ram and a 1gb 7670M. At 720p of course. Yes, it overheats like a bitch.
>>51392848
it's ok, 70°c max when playing fallout.
and i still cant run it in high so... kinda weird
also when the launcher detects the specs it sets me to low directly. I've got Intel HD Graphics 4600 (Acer Incorporated as well in the laptop.
any chance the launcher takes this one as a gpu?
>>51393221
There's a very high chance of that, I've had a lot of games pull this shit on me. You should be able to set it to use the card though.
>>51393567
it's definitely that, but how can i make fallout4 use the gtx instead of the intel?
>>51393185
It's a laptop, there is nothing weird about this, your 960m is the equivalent of a high end card 3 generations ago, the cpu is only 2.6ghz on an engine that is known to be heavily cpu dependant.
You should have just listened when everyone with a brain told you to buy a 1k gaming pc and a 1k notebook.
>>51393711
>>51393221
its not that, intel 4600 would run this game at medium at less than 10 fps.
It's this >>51393752
>>51393752
ok
i do have a pc, just wanted to know if i could run fallout4 on my laptop t'sall
720p is good enough I guess
>>51393817
just play it on low, the games pretty ugly anyway, and frame drops are worse than slightly better mud textures.
>>51393841
question is, 720p high setting steady 60 fps
OR
1080p Low settings 45 fps
