hello men
Here are my shitty specs and I've got a question which I will ask here since /stupid questions/ is nowhere to be found.
Currently rocking AMD FX-4350. Obviously not the best CPU out there. Would it be worth it to upgrade to something like AMD FX-8320? What else would you suggest?
thanks
>>
>>51389699
just get the 8350, overall better, if you're going the amd route
>>
>>51389695
Don't worry, I fell for the same thing. CSGO on triple monitors was fun for like 1 week.
Fortunately I just have a single windforce 290 so not too much buyers remorse.
Just buy a nice 4k monitor on black friday with me. Even considering a single 40 inch 60hz 4k TV.

I can list my specs though.
Gigabyte windforce R9 290 4GB
i5 4590 (non k) w/ stock
16GB (want to upgrade too... ram is addictive)
x2 1080p 24 inch in portrait
x1 1080p 27 inch landscape in the middle
Crucial 256GB SSD.
WD Black 1TB HDD.
Seagate 2TB SSHD.

Why do I have this shit memorized...

I'm thinking about upgrading becuase I'm feeling the itch to play Fallout 4 and replay some games I already finished with higher settings, but I don't know what to do. Options I've considered:

1 - Buy a GTX 960 4GB (205-215€) and maybe an SSD (45-89€)
2 - Buy a 970 and an i5 2500k from ebay (not really my thing) (~500€)
3 - Blow the wallet and buy a Z97-A, i5 4690k, 970 and SSD (~800-850€)
4 - Spend the money on booze, hookers and gambling instead

how are those AMD drivers? no sarcasm, legit question
>>
>>51390056
They are fine, and that's about it. AMD releases new drivers so rarely these days things rarely change, and that goes for both performance and stability. I've had no problems with the current version but i've had crashes with past driver version. The driver meme is pretty much dead these days in my opinion.

How do you like that 960? Building a budget system for a friend and thinking a 960 may be best. It's that or a 280x used from ebay
>>
>>51392063
I was looking for a ~200€ card that was silent, and I would have gotten a 380 Nitro which stops its fans in idle if only it could have fit in my case (height issues). So a reference factor 960 from Evga (not the cooler, but at least the pcb size) was the best option for me. And pretty much every 960 doesn't spin its fans until 60°C.
A 280x should be better, but I wasn't necessarily looking for the best fps/money ratio only.

Budget build

Imokwithit

Picked up almost all the parts for $75, Picked up a cutsom rig someone else put together for super cheap.

it had a dual core richland that was garbage, slowest "modern" cou ive ever used. Replaced that with a 750k + Cm Hyper 212 replaced 4gb 1866 with 8gb and threw in an SSD and gpu

Whole new beast.
>>
>>51389699
I doubt you would notice it but ive never used the 4350. Best bang for your buck would be the 8320e. the e model has a super high bin and is capable of very high overclocks.

>>
>>51395540
LOL the "Anniversery Edition" pentium is shit.

How can you possibly come across as an elitist and yet recomend that abonination. The only thing it does well is overclock.

Im on a budget so why would I replace the motherboard in the first place. Like I said I didnt build the rig, just upgraded it on a budget.
>>
>>51395540
g3258 and 750k is the same price not to mention he can use the motherboard he already has for the 750k I dont get how you thought that response was valid, even if it was just a troll response.

Not to mention the pentium is a dual core...
>>
>>51395592
Because stock g3258 is much faster than 750k?

Much faster?

I already had the FM2 board, how is switching to the pentium and buying a new board a better budget decision then sticking with the socket and buying a cpu similar in performance.

Do you know what budget means?

>>
>>51395749
tdp relevence for budget build or pefmance is 0 to even try to argue that is just grasping at straws.

My 750k is at 4.5ghz show me some pentium benchmarks at 4.5ghz garuntee any bench that takes multithreading into account will favor the athlon.

Wasnt this a budget arguement? You lost that so you are trying to justify your post anyway you can.
>>
>>51395645
This is flat out wrong, the 750K beats the G3258 in well optimized programs. Reality is however that programs are more often than not terribly optimized with G3258 taking the cake more often than not.

Often forgotten is multi-tasking, a 750K will trash a G3258. Trying to render on one screen and browsing on another is terrifically slow on a G3258 but doable on a 750K.
>>
>>51395841
I think he has one, and for some reason is experiencing high levels of buyers remorse. First he was arguing my rig wasn't a budget build because it didnt have the pentium, when he realized that argument made no sense he switched to talking about tdp and performance after overclocked.
