This was my thought when proposing it. If a graphics tablet can transmit power and data between the tablet and pen, I don't see why it couldn't eventually be developed into a sort of contactless flash drive. If current NFC tech can at least transmit static data, it could potentially progress into that.

No, you should be good. Apple used Nvidia cards in some of their macbooks. The only hardware configurations that don't work 100% with hackintosh are AMD CPU's because Apple's never used them before. Desktop AMD graphic cards are fine though.

I hand adjust them all the time for my friends. Sometimes the platters have scratches because the magnet is touching, no problem, just water polish the scratches so they feel smooth and bend the magnet arm back in position! No problem!

I used this a full year before getting a Macbook Air (new graphics API needs OpenGL 4 hardware support, and T420 only has 3.x). It was better than any non-retina Macbook Pro, cheaper, built better, the trackpoint worked, updates worked just like first-party hardware, battery went for 9 hours and the machine barely got hot.
