Any other VPNs there are? What do you guys use? Please help

Can I use youtube-dl to somehow automate downloading an entire channel's or user's videos?

I really don't want to do each separately but I really need to get an entire channel's videos.

I'm not sure if it supports that, but it can download whole playlists. So if you can put a channel's videos into one playlist (or query all of it's videos as a playlist) then ytdl can get them.

My NVIDIA drivers seem to have shit the bed; I've tried downloading 5 different versions of the same drivers with no luck. I'm tempted to try upgrading to windows 10 to see if that somehow fixes the issue. Here's some info

I'm sorry for reposting this, but last night when I said that my Xubuntu often times does a lengthy filesystem check before booting someone asked for contents of my fstab.

http://pastebin.com/VEcRwQxa

I changed it to this after installing Xubuntu, because the extra partitions where mounted in media which made them constantly visible on the desktop, and i didn't want that. Someone from /flt/ told me what to write in fstab regarding Windows partitions, but for that final Ext3 one I looked it up on the Internet, so its possible that I might not have set up everything the best I can.

hello, I have openwrt (pandora sdk), how do I block certain IPs?
so far tried creating a rule using firewall -> custom rule (also tried editing iptables config file) did not seem to work, still can ping one and another IPs, actually it is ISP DNS I am trying to block as for some weird reason there are connections to port 53, even though, on pc I have set to use opendns (there are connections of it as well, which is not too unexpected)

anyways, perhaps there is a better way such as override dns option in openwrt? thanks!

>>51357309
depends on what you are going to use it for...
I got one flat glass type one for free, which runs 800x600 @ 150 Hz
it is really nice for playing stepmania, the video is much better than on LCDs, however, CRTs are known to be not good for eyes or something like that, mind that one?
CS 1.6 is run @ 100 fps and looks best when matching frametime nicely as 50 Hz - half frames displayed, 100 Hz - all frames displayed, 200 Hz might not give big difference, but anything between 0-25-50-100-200 Hz etc. would split frames in refresh and there would be a lot of visual artifacts as tearings.
if you are into casual games like skyrim, cs:go you should be fine with 100+ Hz LCD

Aight, here's what you do.
First you should open /etc/default/grub with text editor of choice. You will need root access for it.
For xubuntu it's going to be
sudo mousepad /etc/default/grub

You will edit the line starting with GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX
add
video.use_native_backlight=1

before the ending " of the file

Result should be like in pic related.

Save the file.
Then rebuild it with
sudo update-grub

Reboot and report back

Building a new computer and two things.
1. Is it really that cheaper during Black Friday/Cyber Monday?
2. I'm going high end but not THAT high end. Is it true in that regard I should look for AMD parts? ex R9 380 or 390 instead of Nvidia 980.

Should I look at AMD processors instead too if I'm looking to go high end? Thanks.

I used it quite a bit for reading stuff and used it as a tablet on my PC for some drawing. I got used to the pen for a few more things so that's one of the things I'm looking for, and unfortunately there aren't many tablets out there with digitizers like that.

I also wanted something slightly bigger. 9.7 inches seemed like my thing. I already read that the resolution is lower (1024x768) so I can expect the DPI to be fairly lower as well, but frankly I think it's not enough of a fault for me to stop myself from buying it. What worries me if that you said the CPU was shitty. Note 8.0 is ok with a different ROM, but if this worse in terms of performance I might just have to give up on my search.

It's just that my Note 8.0 has been there for years working pretty well for me, but I had a big accident involving a fuck ton of water and the screen is a mess now with a few patches here and there. I even replaced the LCD cable that fixed things a bit. I suspect fully repairing the thing is going to cost quite a bit still.

Same place as notebook.zim file, actual notes are not created until you click "save".

I mean ES has built-in plaintext editor, you still need some way to sync files between your desktop and phone.
Do you want to sync it over internet or lan-only? Do you need offline access to notes on your phone? How paranoid are you?

I'm just using dropbox because neither my government nor nsa won't find anything worth their time in those notes and their client is better than all I've tried.

Gonna ask it here since the /g/ wiki is down.

What is a GOOD and FUNCTIONAL bittorrent program? I used to use utorrent up until it went to crap, then I switched over to qbittorrent, which is having some major issue that is making it usable for me.

The problem is I have a ton of completed torrents from a private tracker that I wish to seed. They were originally on a secondary drive, and I made a full copy to an external drive for backup. Then the secondary went down. So I went into qbittorrent to switch the location to the external backup so I could force a re-check and get them seeding again. qbittorrent will NOT allow me to change the location, it just spits up an error whenever I try. Googling around, qbittorrent has had this issue since at least 2012, and it still has not been fixed. I tried downloading Deluge, but Deluge doesn't appear to support changing the location after the torrent has been started, which makes it worthless for my uses.

So, is there a torrent program that actually works?

What common video format is the easiest/least taxing for a blu-ray player to decode and render from a usb drive/network?

The manual says that it will play mkv, avi, mp4, and some others, but it chokes hard on x264 BD rips. Stuttering and audio sync issues out the ass.

If AVI is the least resource intensive format (my best guess), what command in ffmpeg can I use while retaining most of the quality? A higher bitrate than the source is ok, as long as there's no stutter.

increase the number of watts your PSU can supply
watts are the si unit of power, equal to one joule per second
a joule is also the work done by applying a force of one Newton over one meter
a Newton is one kilogram-meter per second squared, or the force required to accelerate a one kilogram object at a rate of one meter per second squared.
>W= kg * m^2 / s^3
in order to reduce s, your download time, we have to put it in terms of factors we can control, making uncontrollable factors constant
you can convert kg to gigabytes by some constant i don't remember, let's call it k1
>W = k1 * GB * m^2 / s^3
the meters here is the distance the data has to travel between you and your peer,
this is constant, so let m^2 equal k2
>W= k1*k2 * GB / s^3
the file is going to be the same size regardless of your settings, so GB is constant, so let GB equal k3
>W = k1*k2*k3 / s^3
now a product of constants is itself constant, so let k1*k2*k3 equal k0
>W = k0 / s^3
>W * s^3 = k0
for any values of W and s, k0 is constant, so we can set two instances equal to each other
>W1 * (s1)^3 = W2 * (s2)^3
>W2 / W1 = (s1)^3 / (s2)^3
>1 / (W2 / W1) = (s2)^3 / (s1)^3
>1 / (W2 / W1) = (s2 / s1)^3
>3v(1 / (W2 / W1)) = s2 / s1
so if you get a PSU with 8 times the power of your old PSU, making W2 / W1 equal 8:
>3v(1 / 8) = s2 / s1
>1 / 2 = s2 / s1
>s1 / 2 = s2
the time it takes with your new PSU will be one half the time it took with your old PSU.
if you don't have the budget for such a large increase, and you only double the size of your PSU:
>3v(1 / 2) = s2 / s1
>1 / 3v(2) = s2 / s1
>s1 * 1 / 3v(2) = s2
>s1 * 1 / 1.26 = s2
>s1 * 0.79 = s2
the time it takes with your new PSU will be about 79% of the time it took with your old PSU.

I've never used cron before, and even after doing
 man cron
and looking all over the internet, I'm not sure why this fucking task won't run. This is what I have in my crontab:
 00 * * * * /usr/bin/overviewer --config=/root/overviewer/default

It's supposed to run every hour of every day that the system is on, at 00 minutes, eg. 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, etc.
Why is it not? If the code completed, I would have a page on my website that would actually load, and it doesn't, meaning the html that the code generates was, well, not generated.
Anyone have experience with cron? it's a fickle little bitch.

My main reason I continue to use it is how customizable it is. A lot of shit that you would need add-ons for or simply can't do in other browsers can be easily changed in about:config with minimal effort, and there are also many add-ons to customize other aspects to make it fit your needs well. (Of course the latter is true of many others browsers as well, but for example with Chrome when I tried it I was originally rather disappointed with the lack of ability to change a lot of things that would have been easy to change in FF.)

C is another good choice.
