>Owned an OCZ power supply for about 5 years, fan would intermittently grind and clunk as if it was hitting something.
>Upgraded my rig and bought a Corsair power supply, same problem out of the box, fan randomly losing it's shit.
>RMA'd for the same model, exact same problem.
>Got refund, bought XFX Pro Series power supply instead, this time it has horrific coil whine like a constant dog whistle even when the PC is off.
>fan doesn't grind or clunk tho.
Why the fuck does this happen to me? Am I just picking shitty manufacturers or is this a common problem?
If I have to do cable management once more I'll snap, I can't even use my PC the noise is fucking unbearable.

>kill your pc senpai
my xfx 550 stopped doing weird noise after a week, pretty nice psu
>OCZ
>Corsair
>these companies literally got into the market by having an OEM make their PSUs then slap a premium price sticker on it because of the brand
enermax mustard reporting in.
have had this 425w supply for 6-7 years and its not even a premium model

I've been running a Corsair 850TX for over 5 years with no problems. Corsair has a wide range of models and the cheaper ones aren't nearly the same quality. If you run a performance PC a power supply isn't the component to go cheap with.

nigga u a retard??

They OEM for a bunch of stuff, I don't keep track of it. All I can say is that I've never had a problem with any of their self-branded products.

I initially bought a Corsair CS650M which was £73. Not top of the range but I wouldn't call it cheap.

Any chance you have dirty mains power?
>>51318456
I wouldn't think so, I've never had coil whine with any previous PSU before, just fan issues. Although my PS4 has a tendency to squeal when it's switched off.
>>51318456
Then again, I just unplugged my router from the next socket and the tone of the squeal changed completely, same loudness though.

I'm just some dude on the internet, no warranty included, but it seriously sounds like the problem is with what you're plugging it into. Could be a ground loop.
