KeePass appreciation thread
>>
Do people actually use that? Like, do you really save your passwords on your PC?
>>
>>51317294
They are in an encrypted file that can not be cracked and the password for it is your head so they are actually not in your PC
>>
>>51317294
Thank you
>>51317266
Yes, I store all my email, bank, web passwords and logins in one place on PC and USB drive.

The soft itself is stable as fuck, secure, open source, convenient and easy to use. You can link your cloud storage if you want host your encrypted data base online.
>>
>>51317294
Yes.

Do you really write them down.
Or, worse, do you use insecure easy to remember passwords and recycle the same password?
>>
>>51317294
of course.

need it for all my accounts have unique passwords, and there is no way i could even hope to remember them off the top of my head.
>>
Using keepassx becus it's multiplatform
otherwise aight piece, i like the password generator, it's useful
>>
Just use a piece of paper you dipshits
>>
>>51317294
An encrypted file within encrypted system for hundreds of passwords.

What is your option? You remember all of your accounts passwords, each with different password up to 512 characters? Or just have written down them somewhere with pen and paper?
>>
>>51317446
Try writing this to paper
hAV>;w?)}JOX%eeX0^t,i%;/
>>
>>51317446
dumbest thing ever.

good luck generating and writing out 100+ passwords like these:
r2=\5gF\j9mSKC[#xksMzV(d(D7k{7c;s&YvRV!
t>L}U%xSE5A^>*Hr}fegpz=rn)E79[N3\z;Z^?Z
}CXRX<+9&cWJ"m_[}DBE()_?7n4xev;UeWa)3"q

except for those shit sites that have arbitrary passwords requirements, restricting you to 16 characters or whatever.
>>
>>51317347
> can not be cracked
I use keepass as well, but anything can be cracked.

I don't understand what is the edge of the paper to keepass, let alone the need to use a printer and to type this type of passwords

Passwords like these, and storing them locally in Keepass, are a literal waste of time when hackers access and decrypt the third party server storing your details, which is a situation which is far more likely than anyone wanting to gain access to your individual workstations.
>>
>>51317626
You do realize there is KeePass for cellphones, right?
>>
>>51317662
DELETE THIS
>>
>>51317626
you can setup one time/app passwords, to make it easier to sign in on some accounts.

have to setup 2FA with them too maybe.

but yes, sometimes it is a pain to do, but worth it in the end.
>>
>>51317643
Which is why you use a different password for every website/service, all of which of course you keep in KeePass.
>>
>>51317626
Don't use passwords like this for devices with controller input (shit, common sense) and get this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.keepass

>>51317643
This is the most important security advantage of KeePass, if a site gets hacked
>hackers access and decrypt the third party server storing your details
you don't give a shit because the password is one of the hundreds of different passwords in KeePass
>>
>>51317643
oh whoops, some stupid place gets hacked, oh well i'll change just that one unique password in my database.
>>
>>51317502
How did you get my password?
>>
>>51317626
You know that there is

A) Portable version where you can bring where you want an USB drive. (portable + your encrypted data base of passwords)

B) Mobile version of Keepass

C) Why on fuck face earth you need a 128 bit (or greater) passwords on your gaming console?

is there a working u2f implementation yet
>>
>>51317731
You left your keepASS open fool
>>
>>51317391

not me, but I remember mine. I use a different one for every service. they are not insecure.

>>
>>51317757
neo is the only one that matters, u2f still has just google, dropbox, and github?
>>
>>51317733
a) Yeah, because thinking of bringing a USB drive everywhere I go is so convenient
b) Not on Windows Phone (Yeah, I know. I deserve the hate)

>>51317697
>>51317733

c) You guys are aware that your motherfucking windows account is the same as your Xbox account right?

I don't own xbox so how would I know
>>
>>51317366

Who exactly has examined the source code to determine that it's secure?

It took an assload of time & money to examine the source code for TrueCrypt and that didn't happen until years after people had been using it and boasting about its security & open source status.
>>
>>51317626
Keepass can't help idiot like you.
>>
>>51317840
see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/app-passwords-two-step-verification

you should really have 2FA on anyway, if you really care about the account.

also http://keepass.info/download.html

scroll to the ports.

you're welcome for the spoonfeeding
>>
>>51317582
I only use lower case letters and numbers.
Much easier to type.

Using special symbols is unnecessary, just make the password longer instead.

a) You need the database in your phone, a usb, dropbox, a CD, whatever and your head to remember the one master password.
b) I don't think it will remain like that
c) Just don't enable the thing that warns you not to so, shit
>>
>>51317823
>u2f still has just google, dropbox, and github?
yes

>>51317820
doesn't work with the cheap u2f-only keys
>>
>>51317895
yep, that's why i canceled the order for the github branded u2f key, not really worth it when i can just use the authenticator app from f-droid on many more services.
>>
>>51317895
>doesn't work with the cheap u2f-only keys
That's u2f's fault, not KeePass', the framework is there for them to implement it
>>
>>51317626
Stop playing video games you man child.
>>
>>51317819
They are insecure.
>>
>>51317953

>>
>>51317819
As long as one can remember the password, it's insecure.
>>
>>51319428
This.

What's the best Keepass app on android? Keepass2Android?
>>
>>51319504
that's the one i use, but the latest beta isn't 100% yet.

i still use it because of the clipboard sniffing all others are affected by.
>>
>>51319520
>other keepass-variants are being clipboard sniffed, thus OSes these others run have been compromised
>snooping OS built by snooping corp is not compromised therefore it provides certainly the safest option
Sounds logical.
>>
>>51317626
There's a fucking android app in F-droid. And it's really not Keepass's fault that you idiot need a 32 letter special character password to be safe on psn and live.

>>
>>51319904
i don't get what you are saying.

all i know is that password managers on android (lastpass incl.) pass the pws in a way that other apps can read them. keepass2android has its own way of passing them, which can't be sniffed the same way.

that doesn't mean the desktop application has the same vulnerability, if that's what you are saying.
>>
>>51317624
ayy I use the same program
>>
>>51320646
Hehe I also press it until it's over 150 bits, it gives passwords between 140-150 :P
