I have a Note 3 and I bought a Fiio X1.
It was definitely better quality but in the end the only thing I would notice on day to day use was the volume of it, which the Note 3 is so loud enough to damage your hearing on max volume anyway.

Literally any Android phone made in the past 5 years will support a 128GB or larger MicroSD card as long as it's formatted FAT32, cards now a days coming formatted as exFAT is the reason people think this, some phones don't support exFAT, just put the card into your computer and format FAT32 and watch a fucking 128GB MicroSD card work in a 8 year old BlackBerry. (Which I have done...)

Well yeah, 99% of android devices play up to 20KHz and your average 20 something year old can only hear up to 16 Khz so it will be fine. Only ones that don't are the $20 ones from wallmart.
The only reason I have a dedicated music player is because I don't like getting sweat and stuff on my phone from working out. I sweat a lot when I workout or run and I want to protect my phone from that.
