Why are there still no good powermac emulators /g/?
>>51314773
Because there is no need.
If PowerPC was a relevant platform today (like if Apple still used it, or if IBM's PPC machines ever sold) there would be, but it isn't really used.
>>51314983
But what is with all the programs that only run under classic Mac OS like... er... like... some important ones?
>>51315334
They also (mostly) run on OS9. You can use SheepShaver.
>>51314983
>If PowerPC was a relevant platform today
emulators literally only exist for irrelevant hardware tho
>>51314983
>>51315334
Early OS X has a Classic mode that runs the OS9 shit. Intel OS X has (had) Rosetta for PPC shit.
>>51316087
Like Virtualbox, VMWare, Parallels, etc?
Most irrelevant hardware is only emulated because it is simple. If it is complex (like emulating a semi-modern mac), it really needs to have a market.
>>51316087
if that's true, then why do developers use their x86/amd64 workstations to emulate consumer ARM hardware like Android/iOS phones, in order to test their software? Are all these "smart" devices not the latest, greatest way to take the average man's money?
>>51314773
Why emulate when there real PPC Macs sitting idle? It's not like they are expensive or hard to get.
>>51314773
Modern PPC macs are still easy as fuck to come by and probably take a lot of power to emulate
>>51316152
Those are hypervisors, not emulators you dipshit.
